Default Rediscovering SHIII

Much to the dismay of my poor wife (can't be easy married to a sub commander...even if he only commands a simulation), I have rediscovered SHIII recently. I don't play many games on the PC, but there are a few games that I always return too:
  • Civilization (played it ever since the first release)
  • Aces of the Deep (still run it under DosBox)
  • Freelancer
  • and Silent Hunter III
There are a few others, but these are the ones that eat up my free time.

When I was cleaning out my old CD storage system (don't ask), looking for stuff I wanted to throw away, I came across the SHIII install disk. That brought back memories of watery graves, hours behind the computer looking for convoys, being DC'd to oblivion...and I was hooked again.
So I came back to Subsim to see if there might have been an update to a little something called GWX 1.3 which I still had installed...only to find that there was no little update, but a huge update!

Thanks a lot, GWX team! I am once again hooked to Silent Hunter III. I immediately started a new career, starting out in August 1939 in a tiny IIA, seeing all those juicy targets sail by... I spent my first patrol honing my tracking skills, hydrophone skills and touring some British ports. I'm currently in my second patrol and the war is now 13 days old. I am patrolling of Norway but have yet to make my first kill. Norway is still neutral, after all...

Now if any of the GWX team members would care to send my wife some flowers...I'm too busy

And she's gonna stay that way for a looooong time, if I have anything to say about it too. She's a good sport about me playing too...

I'll do them great deeds when someone sends some Tommies my way...not in a plane, though, but in a good old-fashioned ship. Been out on patrol for 6 days now, here in AN42 and only seen two neutral Norwegians pass by. Almost shot at them out of boredom....
This being 1939, I am still in a Type II, so I'm not supposed to be doing long patrols. Once I have completed my search pattern here, I am going to head over to AN41 or maybe AN16. Those Tommies have got to be hiding somewhere!

Yup. I didn't bother to credit it since Torpy's name is plastered across the bottom.

If you have girl problems just talk about the game to her. She will be happy to leave you alone with it after that.

As if GWX wasn't enough...

Torplexed always made nice stuff, but this is probably one of his best. I think all guys who play with their computer can relate to this.
