Default Open bridges

Hi folks - I'm back from an enforced extended break from SH3 after an episode where my video card "upgrade" (6200 PCI >> 8500GT PCI) rendered the game unplayable. I've now retrofitted the old card and am back at sea thankfully.

Here's the thing - why is it that none of the British/Dominion corvettes, frigates and destroyers have manned bridges? It's been bugging me for ages, but I thought I'd leave off until the release of GWX 2.1. But it still hasn't been "fixed". Up until the Type 15 conversions of the 1950s, virtually all British patterns had open bridges, the exception being larger cruisers, carriers and other capital ships (it was still common for Captains to direct the battle from out in the open even on big ships). Even then, the main reason the open bridge fell out of favour was not one of comfort, but the advent of the A-bomb and the decontamination difficulties it created that could be easily solved by a sealed command room. In WWII the Captain and his staff would be kept warm with a constant supply of sickly cocoa. In SH3, however, the bridges always appear empty. Any simple way to rectify this? Surely someone else must have noticed.

The reason you don't see people on the bridges is because the Brits are afraid of Lt.z.S. J.S. Balz, pride of the Kriegsmarine. So they hunker down below. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

If there was a simple way it would have been fixed three years ago. The game makes it difficult to have more than gunners available. SH4 has this fixed, with not only bridge crews but animated crews at that, and with the SH4 U-boat add-on it's only a matter of time. The GWX team is starting to look at the SH4 U-boat situation, and I think it will be fixed soon, one way or the other.

'Soon', being a relative term, of course.
