Default The Luftwaffe saved my ass! We sunk the HMS Nelson

Amazing! I attacked the HMS Nelson in a convoy. 1942 or something I think. It was a single mission. I hit it in the side with 2 Type II torpedos impact at 5 meters. It listed for about an hour and a half while I got hunted for what seemed like forever. THEN out of nowhere JU-87s came with BE-110s and attacked the HMS Nelson! They dropped their bombs where my torpedos hit! THEN after they sunk her they came and gave me close air support and bombed the **** out of 3 tin cans that had been hunting me. I surfaced to help with the tin cans and rescue some downed pilots My periscope was out.

I've never seen the Luftwaffe kick so much ass!

You scripted it so what's your problem?
I'd think you'd run with them.

What does it take to call out the Luftwaffe? How far do you have to be from home base before they even show up?
I've send out a thousand contact reports before, but I never saw them!

Don't be too generous with words against the Luftwaffe, we all fight for the same cause.

I was doing a single missions near Malta. I was supposed to be taking down cargo. Well there is the HMS Nelson about 4 or 5 thousand meter away. Well I was deciding what to do and the Nelson and other boats started firing on someone on the other side of the convoy. I jumped into the fight right away because I didn't want them to fire on other Uboats or German aircraft while I twiddled my thumbs. I fired a 4 torp salvo at the Nelson. 3 Hits, one dud 2 detonations. Then as I said earlier an hour and a hald later the cavalry just shows up.

Aah so basically what you need is:

- Lots of patience
- Close to occupied countries (Malta = close to Italy)
- A battleship or a convoy (won't go for single merchants?)

But does it matter wether you send out a contact report or not?

I didn't send one if that helps. It is the Malta single mission. I am playing it again to see if it happens again or I was lucky. The planes didn't care about the cargo ships. The cargo ships had hauled ass anyway when the Nelson started to get beat on. I would have too.

Good to hear that those flyboys took time out of their busy schedule of drinking and womanizing to lend a fellow kaleun a hand. So far I have come across them once in action, a few Stukas went after a lone small merchant I had reported a few hours earlyer.
