Default Bombed in training missions ?

Hello,
just tried the training missions after installing GWX - now in the AA training there are some 10 bombers and fighters that instantly bomb the boat, or shoot down the AA gunner(s). How could you possibly fulfil this training without losing the boat ? Dive helps but you cannot shoot down AC from below ...

The training is not necessary, but i did not expect to lose my boat in the baltic sea lol.

Greetings,
Catfish

Start by putting someone on the AA guns and have them fire at incoming targets only, then order ahead flank and go in a circle or do a snake pattern. You may have to try this a few times.
On my first try I shot down all but the fighters.
Then, on my second try I shot down all but 2 of the fighters and was rewarded an excellent grade. Keep trying it, as there may be a bug that allows you to get an excellent without shooting down all the fighters, but the bombers must be shot down.

edit: wow! another weird rank! guts for garters, I think I'll let taht one stay for a while. hehe

Well, once you get over the shock, the training missions are quite surviveable and you can pass them. (Had to do it myself in testing.)

At the very least, they'll wake you up and bump you out of your comfort zone.

Hello Kpt. Lehmann,
yes, it was a kind of shock , but i succeeded: Just do not man the gun yourself, but let an experienced sailor do it - i must be getting old ...
Anyway thanks a lot for GWX, this is really an incredible upgrade - i watched the final steps, or better the posts when GWX 2 was close to be finished. What an unbelievable work - i guess i will wait a bit longer to play SH IV, maybe until i get a Cray, or a Hal9000 .
And very kind to mention my name in the readme, this german "Funkmess"-info was little enough to contribute - and you made a very good history lesson out of it ! The german firm(s) are still in the business today, Rhode & Schwartz as well as Askania with their automatic "hovering" system.

I have been in other forums lately, especially in flight sim ones ("OFF", and RedBaron), and i stumbled about your name now and then. Good to "see" you again here,

thanks and greetings,
Catfish

Catfish, Lehman is a British agent who developed this system of killing Kaleuns while still in training. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Catfish: I've had the same troubles you've had, so I just shot down what I could and called it a day, before the boom booms came. GWX is great for shaking you out of your seat, so on a REAL patrol, if you see one of them sumbitches, you best get invisible and get quiet, because they're coming for blood!
