Default The little Brit that Could

4 Dec 1939
U-104
AM 52

While doing an AM sound check a merchant was determined to be approching from a very consiterate bearing. It required almost no adjustment to intercept, and afterwards a heading of 195 was laid in to bring tube six to bear. A remarkably accurate soultion was input to the TDC, and our boom-stick went boom as it should. This is where the Limey scum stopped being cooperative. Slowed to 3Kts, devloped a pronounced problem keeping her bow up, but kept right on chugging. After admiring Her tenacity and resolve for three and a half hours it was decide to close to 200m, surface and render a Final Salute with our 20mm. This was a brilliant, but flawed decision for as soon as we blew her boilers, reports of damage came in from all over the boat. We had, in our eagerness, closed to within 50m. All compartments except for the forward torpedo room were damaged and flooding. Withe Her Dying Breath She almost got us.

I LOVE GWX2.0!!!!!

Anywhere under 250 meters from a sinking ship is not a good place to be!

Tell me about it! Sounds like the same one I met in BE 61. Used up 6 torps and still nothing! Had to wait 24 hours to let the weather easeup so that I could turn the burning hulk into Swiss cheese with my 88.

The EXACT same thing happened to me a couple of days ago! Allow me to explain:

I was on my 7th patrol in a IIA, and spotted this passenger/cargo ship near Scapa Flow. OK, ended up wasting 3(!) eels all told on the critter - 2 were duds apparently - with one hitting and exploding. The ship tilted a bit, but continued on its merry way nevertheless, forcing me to resort to my trusted 20mm Flak gun... Well got the bastage finally firing at extreme close range, but almost sunk meself as well when the bugger went up like a bloody Saturn V! Still, that was S/S Sea Starlet finished

Got back home in one piece w/ my hull damage at 87% or so however. Yep, gotta love GWX2.0

Just one more way the GWX crew are trying to kill us. It's almost like they are trying to sabotage the War effort. I really do love these guys. Lesson learned. I'll just have to adapt, improvise, and overcome.
