The guy has run before under the Green party and was blamed for tilting the vote enough that Bush won his first term in 2000... despite the Gore/Bush/Supreme Court/State of Florida debacle. He has no political base and is running as a "wild card" of sorts, depending on the "popular vote" to elect him. He and Ross Perot have been "spoilers" in past elections.

On the upside, having a bit of an unknown is not a bad thing, makes the race more interesting and brings forth new issues not "party motivated". On the other hand, the US needs to get some serious leadership into the Oval Office, and Nader doens't have an ice cubes chance in hell of winning.
