Default A very nice Heligoland island!

On my previous missions in GWX 2.0 I have passed Heligoland either in darkness or in foggy
and rainy weather. This time it was on midday a sunny day.
What a difference compared to the flat and barren island in the standard SH3! Now a populated
island rises hight out of the sea with a realistic harbour. It looks very good, I have
compared with photos on Internet. I did enjoy my flying across it with the free camera when
passing on my way out to the Atlantic. Thank you, GWX team!

Yeah ! I was VERY impressed with Heligoland when I drove near the south side of it yesterday. Was this added in 2.0 ? I don't recall seeing the little port there before.

You are correct!

Well the indian's managed to assert their vernacular pronunciations of Bombay and Calcutta on the rest of the world, and the Turks did with their version of Constantinople, so i dare say you can assert your national spellings on the rest of the world too. If you care enough to, that is.

Personally i like the fact that Milano in English is Milan and in german is Mailand, Venizia is Venice is Venedig etc ..there is history in these different spellings.

I guess I'll have to stop by Heligoland to check it out

Glad you like it
Tis TigerKatziTatzi's terrain improvement from way back
As the terrain files are huge I could only add the improvement to GWX 2 as the terrain files HAD to be included anyway

I saw it too.
I sailed around this island two times.
Very nice texture and harbour stuff!
Good work!

Well, it does belong to Germany, and their pronunciation and spelling are the correct ones, but the British always called it 'Heligoland', so that is sort of acceptable.

So...is it 'Peiping', 'Peking' or 'Beijing'?:rotfl:

No idea myself :hmm:
Anyone from that area in this forum?
Wikipedia advises "Bejing" as it's native name.... I would gladly use it

I too like the new Heligoland - On every patrol that starts from Wilhelmshaven, I always go past it to admire the view.

Don't know about the accuracy, but Wikipedia has a decent article about it ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heligoland

Of course I was joking. It's gone from the first to the last over the years. As I understand it, it changes depending on the dialect of the party in charge at the time.
