Default Odd Thing

So yesterday night i started a new career. I was in the north sea and did a test crash dive. Because the water was only 89 meters i pressed level at 25m. My boat kept descending:hmm: . It went to 1m above the sea floor. I used external cam and my boat was angled upward like it was surfacing and it was very close to the bottom. I pressed pd, surface, new depth 5m but nothing worked except balast.
I got up and a day later i was put under by a dd. Same thing. blew ballast and died at surface.anyway what caused this? I didnt do antoher carreer but i am planing on it today.
Ps. i dont have commander so no sabotage
Any explanation would be helpful.

Whenever I use crash dive - usually because a plane has spotted me - she always goes to the crash dive depth (60m?) before she levels out. Doesn't matter what I do. It seems that the command is basically not counterable - once you order a crash dive, you sir are going to get one. Only when the depth is achieved is control restored.

I may be doing something wrong here, but this is what happens to me.

Normal crash dive levels at around 75m IIRC, when you got a high speed it keeps goin down for a longer time, thus ur getting deeper.

I normally press hold depth when I cross the 10m mark. If you do that you level off at around 35m. then LI tries to climb to 10m.

I'll try to answer that with all my knowledge of newtons laws and my wee amount of experience with the game.

Since realism is so important for simulation when you order a crash dive your boat gains a much more momentum as it goes down deep under water with dive planes set to maximum and the crew is making every other effort as quickly as possible to get the boat under water.

To counter it's undesirable side-effects, you have to give new orders for a shallower depth much earlier before you gain even more momentum and go deeper. If you're crash diving and your current depth is 50m if you give the order to go up to 25m it will take much longer for the boat to respond to depth adjustments as compared to the usual, depending heavily on the speed of your boat. For this purpose, some people start "spamming" the (say) 25m depth command at 50m if you don't want to hit something like 170m when depth adjustment actually takes effect and the boat starts to rise again.

Additional things to help control the rate of descent is to set engines to full reverse and blowing the ballast tanks.

To the more knowledgable people: AMIRITE?!

the trick to aborting a crash dive is to kill your speed, go to slow or full stop when you hit 30 meters or so and keep ordering the depth you want repeatedly, I usually manage to get her rising again at 45 meters or so and then make for 25

That's what I do. And it works.

well, i already know everything that yall said. Dive stops at 70-75 yes. I was leveled off and wanted to go back up. My speed was low because it was like an hour game time later. Nothing i did would resurface me. I think it was just a game error. Anyway i did another carreer and everything works like normal now. I knew all laws and whatnot it was just that it was physically (sp?) impossible to resurface without ballast. Thankyou all .I guess it was just a minor game error.

What version of the game are you playing ?

I certainly don't experience this in GWX

You should always make an allowance for the front and rear of your boat (due to angles) of a few metres or so

I just reset all my crash dive depths to 20 meters and if I need to go deeper I then give a new depth command when I hit 20 meters.

That's a good 'workaround'

Works well for me, cuz most of my crash dives are for planes and I hated going to 60 meters for them.

In testing we don't have the luxury of the dive option.....we need to see what damage is incurred
