I use 3DS to do uv mapping.
as I don't know any other method I used a tutorial found on the web, to make a house !, and applied it to the subs. I use the uvmapper, then select box mapping so as to have all 6 sides, then try and move around the pieces in the uv map window. I need to do good uv mapping for all my boats, and 3DS flips faces everytime I import/export to and from S3D ![]() do you know any good uv mapping method or program ? and can you explain how to do a good uv map ? thanks keltos |

Have you tried the 3D Studio Max UV Mapping and Texturing tutorial? It's available on the DVD, or on the Autodesk website.

I use MM3d all the way, I assemble my main parts into groups and then I lay out the texture stretching and scaling the coordinates on the texture itself. usually it's a little bit of guesstimating on their placement but it is far more convenient than it is on other modeling proggys.
