I started a new career in the Asiatic on hard difficulty and on my second patrol I could not believe the activity in the South China Sea!

Nice. How many times did you refit?

I think I've refit a total of 3 times in one patrol. That was like a 6 month patrol. It was absolutely crazy, with port sneaks and several carriers.

I was able to sink around 400k by hanging in eastern Bismark Sea for about 4-5 months. Tender just 6-700 miles away and so much traffic it wasn't even funny. Tankers and flattops were so common and never needed more than two fish each

Hit 206,000 last night, while experimenting with torp requiremens for some ships. Took out 3x Fleet Carriers (only need 2-3 torps), 1x Kongo (2 torps) 1x Yamato 4 torps, 2 heavy cruisers (1-2 torps) and a handfull of mechants.

Proceeded with a successful agent insertion followed by quick savegame on the way out, just in case.....:hmm:

Now when I reload my save, the game gives me a CTD!
GRRRRRRRR!!!!

What realism level do you have it set at?

I would times your tonnage by that to get a better assessment of where you are.

200K Badge Requirements listed below. I completed the 200K in a single patrol on 65% realism and no extra supplies just using original ammo!

RULES for 200K CLUB

(1) You need to sink over 200k in a single patrol
(2) It must be in campaign mode, not a single mission.
(3) You will need to post your log here to be added.
(4) You must play above 65% realsim
(5) The tonnage must be achieved using only the ammo and torpedos you started with (No docking to collect extra supplies).

I don't use manual targeting and I allow the external camera. The first because I'm an engineer by trade and I play the game for fun. I get enough math and calcluations at work and manual targeting takes a lot of the fun out of the game for me. Secondly, what fun is it not to be able to follow a torpedo and watch a ship break in half or catch the other sites in SH4 like the sunset in my sig.

You have 24 torpedoes on your average gato/balao, right? A tanker rarely needs more than one well aimed torp and there's a goddamn TON of tankers in the seas south of Japan. Do the math: 24 x 9 ton average (assuming mostly large tankers + a few meds) means well into the 200k club.

Manual targeting really feels too easy tho

Mine was a harbour raid, targets were stationary, so manual targetting was a bit of a "no brainer"
