Default Patrol to Nowhere

On my 5th Patrol out of Wilhemshaven, March 40. Get orders to patrol area DF77. Plot a course and find out I won't have enough fuel to make it back unless I go thru the English Channel (which ain't happening).

Well, we head out, sink a Large Merchant on the way. Once I get off the coast of France, nothing but Nuetrals. Even found 2 convoys, but nothing but Nuetral ships. Bummer getting all lined up only to see ships I can't sink.

Make it to the patrol area, fuel situation isn't good. We plot a course to Cadiz (supply ship there thank god). We make it with only about 200km of fuel left.

Only 1 ship sunk for about 11k. Guess BDU wanted me to check out that area. Am now refueled and we get to leave tomorrow for Wilhemshaven. Hopefully the return trip will be more fruitfull.

How do you find refueling areas, and what mod lets you have them?

I would suggest you use SH3Cmdr. It allows you to edit the patrol grids.

GWX 1.03 only. I recieved radio messages about refueling spots but you can hit F1 and will tell you when and where they will be.

If I changed my patrol area, it would take all the unknown out of the game.....

When using SH3 Cmdr the first option is actually a randomized figure....if you manually type in the figure then you have effectively lost the randomisation factor

Hit F1, this will show you the years that Milch Cows are available, also you will get a message from BDU during patrols where exactly they are, you can also see them on the map, a blue circle.

You dock at them like you are ending a patrol, hit esc and the option to dock at the Milch Cow appears.

I also recomend Commanders switch grid feature.
I've used the Thalia resupply at Cadiz a bunch of times in one current carrer. Might even stick around untill Biscay opens up, presently it's mid `40. In fact the boats due for another resupply after a patrol due West of Gibraltar. Took some juicy targets including an Aux cruiser in a task force, some friggin how I got away.

I did the Cadiz re-supply bit and got huge tonnage by gunning down ships on the Gigraltar--Cape Sao Vicente. Then proceeded to Tanker Alley and went to Lorient before it was officially a base. Resupplied there and went out again to Tanker Alley.
Great tonnage and avoided the transit to Willi.

Every time I've resupplied at a base, I've tried using SH3 commander to get a new grid but when I get into SH3 grid is null.

What am I doing wrong?

If your starting off from anywhere other than your home base, it will read 'Null'. There is no remedy/fix to this
