Assuming the escorts don't have contact either passive or active with your boat and you a running silent is it better to make gradual turns with rudder 5 degrees to try to keep your speed up or should you just go for full rudder?
Anyone have any thoughts on this or done any analysis? Thanks.

I have found it best to keep the rudder over 5 or so degrees then straighten then go the opposite way
You lose too much speed hard over |

as far as I've found out, if they're not actively pinging you or dropping DCs right on top of you

I usually hold a straight course until I hear them start an attack run. Then I go to flank, turn like crazy, go up or down 20 meters or so, then go straight and silent again.

In my experience, limiting rudder deflection to 10 degrees helps evade. and masking slight course changes helps put distance between you and depth charges.
