Not attacking

So im passing the channel and heading north towards ireland. I spot a C class DD and take it out, Then my radar picks up a fast moving contact comming straight for me.
I forgot it could be a plane so i head towards it and wait. Then my WO screams Aircrat spotted, so i get my AA people and say fire when ready.
But the Plane never attacked me, it was a S&R Catalina plane. It just flew about 500 yards then turned right and headed home to england. Im just a little confused, cause i spotted the plane right near the firey oil slick from the DD was, so y didnt it attack me.

Sometimes the planes don't see you. What were the light conditions?

It was day light, clear skies, calm seas, everything was normal, and there was a large oil slick about 400 yards away from me, it was on fire

Perhaps they were late for tea and crumpets and just radio'd your position

Or thought you looked such a grand Kapt they would not risk attack

See you are using GW1.1 EMT
There are problems with aircraft spawning from Elite airbases attacking

In GWX all airbases were downgraded from Elite to cure that problem
