Default How can I set the sub to "decks awash"???

I have downloaded and installed "RealUboat1.45" Mod which says it allows " ability to sail on the surface with decks awash."

How can I do that??

I mean with D key you dive,with S surface,with P periscope depth.

But which is the shortcut for decks awash???

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of a short cut. What I do is press the 7 meters on the dial that allows you to set how deep you want to go.

Yes, that's the way it's done.
You can go a little deeper, if weather permits...in calm seas, I can travel at 7.5m, so that only the conning-tower sticks out (and the deckgun, eventually).
Just experiment...if you watch-crew suddenly goes below deck, then go 0.1m higher, and see if they reappear on the bridge.

Great to keep a low radar-profile, allthough your average speed is reduced by approx. 4kts, and fuel-consumption goes up.

I use 6 or 7 meters, but fuel consumption goes waaaaay up. You may want to take a look at my webbie ,where a more detailed discussion on diving is available.

Man, as much as I enjoyed playing RUb in its time, there are a lot better things available these days, you should give it a try...

I have already finished SH3 way back in stock version.

But last week I watched on TV "Das Boot" and I finished reading "Iron Coffins" so I urgently wanted to give it a shot again.

I downloaded the patch and most of the mods from the download section of the forum and I am in the process of trying it out one by one to see what fits me best.

After both 3 SH and both 688,Sub Command and Dangerous Waters I really want to try SH4 (although I never liked the yanks ).

I much prefer the Germans.

Thanks for your answers Kaleuns!!!!!

As everyone has already said above, you have to set the depth manually.

Not sure about RUB, but in GWX a type VII usually runs at a depth of 5 meters when surfaced. If you set the depth to 6 meters you will run with decks slightly awash. Your speed and fuel efficiency will drop to about 82% of normal, but you will be harder to see and can still man the deck gun. You can also set the depth to 7 meters to run with the decks heavily awash (pretty much just the conning tower out of the water). Your speed and fuel efficiency will drop to about 75% of normal, but you are even more difficult to spot.

If you look in the \data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7b\NSS_Uboat7b.cfg (or whatever type of sub you have) file under [PROPERTIES] SurfaceDepth= you can see at what depth the game will consider you "underwater".

RUB is getting a little old, so I would second Corsair's suggestion that you try one of the newer supermods GWX, NYGM or WAC.

I just started traveling with decks awash (the mark as close as I can get to the 8 meter tick on the shallow depth guage without my deck crew retreating inside) when I can't use my radar because I really need to time for diving reduced to improve my chances of survival. Unfortunately in bad weather your crew will keep switching to batteries. I am lucky enough to have a snorkel now and raise it when I am traveling like this in rough seas. Ordinarily I hate doing this because it slows you down and I like to get the best speed I can and get to where ever I am to do my hunting (in order to get there sooner and reduce aircraft encounters) , where I will operate submerged and either lay in wait for contacts or move about at 1-2 knots to greatly reduce drain on batteries.

Unfortunately even the tricks here don't accurately represent "decks awash". It shouldn't affect your fuel at all, because it's too dangerous to use the diesels in that condition, and the game thinks you're still surfaced and won't let you use batteries. The purpose of decks awash was to allow a silent and much less visible approach to an attack. They didn't drive around all over the world like that.
