Default Save Games

Does anyone know if shIV will have a better save game interface? I hope it will work better than in shIII - can save under water, near ships. Heck, with a torp half way to target! That way I can see the ship get hit again and again. Seriously, its been annoying to put two torps in a ship, have her start to sink, save the game, load and fing the ship out of existence with no credit of a kill.

SH II seemed to have the best save that I recall, where no matter what you were doing when you saved your mission you would return to that spot when you "loaded" back up. For us "Captains" who have other "obligations" and needed to stop mid patrol - SH was miserable. If you tried to get out of the sim - you had to return to port or Abort which left you with either a "Call to Orders" and you were a "bad boy" memo in your file or you had to start from scratch again. This was especially frustrating when your patrol was going well and you still had some torps left to do more damage.

Happy Hunting

You mean except for the part where your entire tonnage score disappeared after saving?

AOD and SHI had good saves. People complained about and tried to mod SHII saves for years, with no luck.

Unfortunately SH2 saves cames with a massive game killer that I do not think was ever solved in mods. Once you saved you effectively lobotomised the Destroyer/Escort AI, effectively removing their aggression destroying subsequent gameplay. This above all reasons was why I gave up on SH2, even the great PA mod.

Regards

You know, now that I think of it, I've never had SHIII rob me of a kill. I always saved after a ship was hit because sometimes the sinking caused my game to crash. When I reloaded the ship was always there and I always got credit.

Well, I think my memory is a bit warped because I don't think I've had a "lost" kill due to loading a saved game I have lost a kill because I lost contact with a ship before she sank. Which has caused me to maintain a vigil over a sinking ship until I'm positive she's sunk and I've gotten the reknown. Just knowing the saved games are a little unstable puts some worry in me when real life is intruding...
