Hi mate! You have south, thats 180 degrees (if north is at 360..duhh).
East is 90 degrees. SouthEast (or SE) is 180 degrees minus 45 degrees, thats 135 degrees. SSE is 135 + 22.5 degrees, that would be 157,5 degrees. You also have ESE (East south East), thats 135 - 22,5 = 112.5 degrees.

In laymans terms, basically when you see a direction like SSE (South-Southeast), your heading is generally more towards the South than Southeast, so it's essentially somewhere between South and Southeast, as Seth has so graciously shown above.

Thanks for the replies and tips.
Obviously, you can probably tell that I'm a noob...second time around that is.

I bought SH3 when it was originally released but gave up on it when I realized I was in over my head. I then went back to my FPS games.

However, I love simulations and wargames, especially the WW2 era.

This time I am determined to learn and master SH3...with the help of you guys of course .

By the way, I did download the GWX mod and the installation went smoothly. The GWX mod is the reason that my interest in SH3 was reawakened .
