Default 3 Questions (GWX)

I just finished my 2nd patrol (Dec 28 1939). How long do I have to patrol out of Kiel before I can transfer to St. Nazaire?

How many patrols do I have to do before I can increase my AA to two?

When using SH3, I installed the mod HI to get high external. In GWX I cannot get a High external. What do I have to do? (so I can see the aircraft dropping DCs near my sub - can't do it in GWX, but I could do it in SH3)

Rob

Hello Rob

I think you get transfered in French bases after the fall of France (June 1940), but I don't remember the exact dates. In any case between June and August 1940 all French bases become operational.

I'm affraid I can't quite understand the AA question. If you mean to get the double AA machine gun I think you can do it at any time. If you're talking about getting a second flak position in your boat it depends on the type of U-Boat you're using. I would suggest you check the ? (question mark-help) icon in the U-Boat update screen to see when the different updates become availiable.

I've never used the HI mod, but if you give me a bit more info about it I might have a look and come up with a suggestion.

Yup. Jul-Aug for the French ports. If you are on patrol, you will get a message: Change your base to __________.

As to external views press F12. It works fine on GWX.

Okay re transfer date; will wait and see.

I have a VIIB and I'm looking to add the second flak position. Okay, will check the ?

Hmmm, I looked at the mods I added to SH3, but can't find the HI mod. Maybe there wasn't one, but Stabiz told me how to do it, perhaps I can get him to answer this one.

Thanks, Rob

So far, I found the flack (AA) totally useless.

The only defense is to dive quickly, IMHO.

Of all the things I've heard about GWX, this is one of my favorites. It was only a few months ago that people were always saying things like "Yeah, I shot down 15 Sunderlands before they finally got me", and I was always pulling my hair out and replying "No, it wasn't really like that! Planes should be dangerous!"

yea planes arent in there for you to shoot at (unless you're a gung ho type). they are there to make you get the H away from the shipping or kill you

fact: dont bother attacking planes, crashdive when you spot them (unless they are firendly)

In SH3 it was easy to take out 6 planes with two AA cause I've done it. Don't know why they made it so difficult in GWX.

They made the planes dangerous because they really were. I dont know the percentage, but I reckon AT LEAST 50% of sunk uboats met a plane before resting with the fishes. Just lost my boat to a Sunderland. Damnit! I was doing everything right! (Apart from the crash dive thingy )

Rob about the hi-mod. I`ve never used it, I think you asked me about this a long time ago, when I was using GW1.1a and you were using vanilla. In GW1.1a and GWX you can go higher than stock with the external cam, and thats all I did. Sorry, mate, cant help you with that one.

They didn't make planes more dangerous, they made it so my AA crew couldn't hit sh*t.
