I've been using the VIIB 39-41 then IXC to go on long distance patrols. Both models have served me well. I am now on GWX2.0 1940.

In the early days of playing this game I always used the type IX boats. But now I only use the type VII preferably the C varient. I like the quicker crash dive times.

I`m currently in a type VIIb in 1940, I also like the type IX boats for their range.

More eels
Longer time on station

IID all the way! Decks awash in a type II, you can crashdive faster than you can f12 to look at it

Im torn between the Type VII/C and the Type IX/C, but if I had to choose I would go with the VII/C, as i've patrolled in that class more than any other type of
U-boat.

Type VIIB, it can go to 20kts once decked out with the latest engines.
But for late 1943, I choose the VIIC-41, because of the Radar absorbing material, and the other goodies that you cant get with the B.
