Default Democrats win.

EDIT: Graphical linky disappeared. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/

Considering Bush is the least worst when it comes to spending, this is good news. Yes, there's alot of stuff that needed to be done, but having a "broken government" might be a good change. Yes, yes, yes, trade agreements will suffer and we don't know what some Dems might come up with, but after all these years of least-worst Bushing, I'm game for some immobility.

1. Don't you just love Mid-Term elections? We can send the message in the middle of the government instead of having to wait the entire 4 years.

2. A CNN poll weighted corruption (42%) above terrorism (40%) and the economy (39%) and the war in Iraq (37%) on the decision of the interviewed voters.

So even though Americans live under the constant threat of new terror attacks, not to mention the trouble in Iraq, in the USA the corrupt, the liar and the hypocrite does not receive any tolerance, even if that means handing over national security to the helpless suicidal Democrats. Two thumbs up on this one.

Well yes, the Democrats now have control of the House of Representatives, but I think Congress (the Senate) isn't settled quite yet. That will be the most crucial result.

Im really happy about it. Ive NEVER voted democrate before a day in my life. But this election..i guess theres a first time for everything. My basis being NO PARTY should have control of the house, the senate, and the oval office at the same time. Check's and balances is what we need. We didnt need a rubber stamp, yes sir anything you say sir, do nothing congress. With the power not all being held by one party, legislature and such will acutally be properly debated and bounced around like it should be.

Not to mention a more prolific use of the presidential veto power.

According to Pelosi, here are some elements of the 100-hour plan.

1. Fully implement all recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Report.

2. Raise the minimum wage

3. Rollback tax cuts for the top 1% of wage earners ie the wealthy

4. Reform the Medicare prescription drug to allow the government to negotiate lower prices for seniors

5.Investigate corruption & contractor abuse in Iraq with subpoena powers

6. Ensure our troops have proper equipment such as good body armor, armored humvees etc.

7. Meet with the Baker Commission, the new SECDEF and the Joint Chiefs to determine & implement a real strategy for securing the peace in Iraq.

8. Finding a real way to balance the budget and end the hemmorage of govt revenues.

By my count GWB has only vetoed one bill since in office. That bill mandated the use of federal dollars for embrionic stem cell research. His veto never outlawed the research which continues to this day.

Ahhh, found it. It was on CNN of all places , go figure

Bush, feds flout the Constitution by finding ways around laws

With upraised right hand and left hand on the Bible, each of our presidents, from George Washington to George W. Bush, has solemnly sworn to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution of the United States.

The American Bar Association claims President Bush has violated that oath by issuing hundreds of "signing statements" to disregard selected provisions of the laws that Congress passed and he signed.

A bipartisan, 11-member panel of the ABA found that President Bush is not only disregarding laws but using such signing statements far more than any president in history. In fact, Bush has used signing statements to raise constitutional objections to more than 800 provisions in more than 100 laws. All of the presidents combined before 2001 had issued only 600.

Bush has used his Veto power less than any other president - he used it once.

My 'your' wasn't meant for you, Ducimus, in particular. I meant it in the more universal sense, i.e. pick your president. My apologies if I offened.
