HP - Pavilion Desktop - AMD A8-Series

Specs:

Again, I can get it to install, but activating the mods, that is my question.

There is something about windows 10 that don't like games.

The trick with anything Windows Vista or "above" is to install in a separate root directory C:\games, not C:\Program Files x86, which is a protected directory subject to all manner of UAC nonsense that protects nobody but inconveniences everybody. Once you get it out of a UAC "protected" (but not protected at all) directory, mod installation will work.

I think you'll find once you do that, and one other adjustment necessary only in Windows 10 that I don't know about, (I'll never use Windows 10. I already have a cell phone) you'll be fine.

The only games that go into program x86 and work have been my Command and Conquer games. (C&C 3 Tiberium Wars, Kanes Wrath. Haven't tried C&C 4, C&C Generals, Zero Hour yet)

Silent Hunter 5 Battle of the Atlantic, has not gone in the same folder. C:/Ubisoft and yet, I'm having problems getting the mods to activate.

I was thinking that perhaps I could install SH4 in the same Ubisoft folder.

And hoping I could activate the mods via JSGME.

I'm very frustrated with the experience I have had with Win 10 and SH5. And I'm hoping I don't have the same with SH4. And from what I've read, I'm very scared to even try SH3 (GWX 3.0) from what I've read even though I love the SH games!

Just hoping you guys could point me in a direction I haven't tried yet.

I would follow RR's advice.

I have Win7, so I can't comment on Win10, but as RR said, didn't install in Program Files.

After you install the game, install JSGME (in the SH game folder), and use it to take a snapshot of game files before you start installing mods.

It is also a good idea to make a copy of the game's 'Data' folder, so when your game gets messed up, you have a set of backup files.
