RIP Lucky, family and furry friend

Today my family had to put to sleep one of our dogs. His name was Lucky. For the first part of his life he was severely abused before being taken away forcefully by the ASPCA. I will not go into specifics of his abuse but i will say that it is rare for the ASPCA to just take animals way like they did with lucky. After being rehabilitated by them he was put up for adoption. Fate smiled on him that day he was put up for adoption. as my little brother was searching for a furry companion. He saw lucky more my parents and it was not love at first but more likely a bond formed even though lucky may have resisted at first. That day the day he was put up for adoption he was adopted. For the next 5 or so years he has lived with my family. We still don't know how old he really was. But during his that time he came to trust us and greated every day with a doggie smile that just showed how happy he was He sang with my father and sang when my dad played a guitar. When he was diagnosed with Cushings disease we loved him and showed him that he loved us back. 3 months ago he started to show signs of dementia one month ago he went to see the vet and weighed 36 pounds a week ago he saw the Cushings specialist and weighed 31 pounds. Today we don't how much he weighed but he passed with a loving family surrounding him and he knew it. RIP lucky furry friend, my brothers companion, my family you are already missed.

More images of the gentle guy

What dog doesn't like a ride in the car?

My brother in the middle with one of our other dogs, and lucky with the smile he greated every day with.

It's not enjoyable. Rocky is getting up there in age (10) and Niki was 12 when I had to put him down.

@DS thanks for the photos.

if you look you can see that his tail has lost alot of its fur part of what alerted us that it could be cushings disease( the tail in this picture is easily mistaken as a leg. the other dog is my furry companion Lucy.

You treasure those memories, I'm sure he has taken many similar memories with him

I can only hope so. I will admit it helps me getting out somewhere. I have always considered subsim as a second family so I feel more at ease letting it out here than probably anywhere else. Its hard to type today my hands shake though but from grief.
