Default Kriegsmarine grid in SH 5

Is there any way I can quickly use that grid(all those BF 87, ES 57, CG 22, etc.) when playing? Or I just need to have a paper version or shift+tab to windows main screen and look at it on my computer screen?

Keep in mind that the contact reports in KQM format (BF 87, ES 57, CG 22, etc.) currently featured using New UIs, are there just for atmosphere.
Actual reports are in long/lat format.

Default Good to know

If you did not say that I would probably be searching for convoys in those Kriegsmarine grid map areas.

Anyway, it would be nice to see that grid in the game. I do not remember, was it possible in SH III?

Default true messages/information?

What about informatioon such as "A convoy of 12 ships departed Gibraltar. It is expected in Liverpool, 29th of Oktober".

Is it as well only for atmosphere? So a

2. Sometimes I get messages saying that one of friendly u-boots is coming home or sunk a ship somewhere. Is it as well for atmosphere or that u-boots are really somwhere there in the game run by the game engine? Is it possible to "meet" another u-boots during campain?

I am sorry to spoil the atmosphere for you, but this is the crude reality...

Indeed it would be a nice feature. I ignore if it was in SHIII (hopefully yes), but Illyustrator is importing MQK quadrants into SH5. The next step would be converting (if passible) lat/long reports in MQK format

Yes, they are all static messages, triggered by date. They are found in the RadioMessages folder added by NewUIs, and you can easily open them with notepad.

You shouldn't take them literally, nonetheless like OHII they are mostly based on historical facts, and they can provide you with useful cues on where merchant traffic is to be found

In general there should be an easy way to recognize them in game: IIRC they should be displayed on a gray background, whereas relevant messages are shown on red or blue backgrounds. Take my colour indication with a pinch of salt though

I would not call it importing. MQK in SH5 differs visually from MQK in SH3. There is one major drawback. At high magnification (Zoom) it looks "large". Unfortunately, I can not paint a size less than one pixel. But, overall, it looks good. It seems that it is printed on the navigation map.

If the grid system is implemented by a mod, will Latitude and Longitude still be there or will they be combined?

Don't get me wrong, I love the SH3 grid system, but Latitude and Longitude isn't all that bad either, once you get used to it.

SH4 U-Boats has both, and both expand and contract with different zoom levels. At long zoom you have AN. Closer in it's AN7. Closer still and it's AN73, then AN731, and when you get really close it shows AN7315. Latitude and Longitude do the same.

I'll never understand why they didn't keep it for SH5.

I thought the KM map was from OM/OMEGU, not the U-boat add-on. If it is, then Ubersoft never had it.

No. If Lurker was so talented he could create something like that we would have them in SH3 and SH5 as well. The expanding KM grid comes with stock 1.5 U-Boat Missions.

What Lurker did do was make it work for all theaters, not just the Pacific.
