I guess its more of a [WIP] but I posted an issue a few weeks back, regarding the conning tower of the 7B regarding an issue with the external ladders to the deck. I ended up attempting to fix it myself (by attaching the 7c tower to the 7B which would be a more appropriate tower anyways) which effectively made the conning tower disapear. I coppied and renamed the 7c_01 tower to 7b_01, are there other files i need to rename?

I've never attempted at really modding anything before, is there a way to accomplish this, or is it hardcoded. Thanks in advance, and any advice would be appreciated.

Are you referring to the texture files? If so, yes it goes a bit deeper then that. I believe that something like the issue you mentioned would deal with the GR2 files since it is a 3d modeling sort of thing. I don't want to discourage you from modding though, everybody has to start somewhere.

Ultimately... i was trying to take the whole physical tower from VIIc and put it on the VIIb, from submarine parts folder. I figured it'd be more complicated than that, but i figured id give her a go.

What was happening, was on the VIIB tower (the first tower upgrade, not the stock type VII tower), when decending to the deck, the exterior ladders aren't functioning properly, I'd end up walking out as far as the saddle tanks, then fall down to the deck. This happens in the stock game with no mods loaded, so its a stock bug. playing around with the VIIC, that tower works properly for me, so i was essentially trying to apply the tower to the VIIB

*now that i think about it, it could be a camera issue.. then again i don't know alot about these things. hardware issues, im good at. software... im so lost.

Yeah, I have realized this bug(I like to think I am just swinging over the rail). I am pretty sure that it would take work on a GR2 file in order to add a barrier to walking there(I think its called a collision surface, not sure). And, of course, the GR2 files are not supposed to be edited.

any idea what triggers the climb down the ladder? and is it "feasible" to swap the appropriate towers to the appropriate boats (7b<->7c)?

Being that we are unable to edit the GR2 files right now. I really don't think it can be done without causing a ton of other issue's.
