Default Re-Suppy at sea

Guys I plan on reloading SH III after a 2 year absense since I had a crash. Can someone tell if I can get a mod that will give me re-supply at sea? I plan on installing SH III and updated patch (ver 1.4) then I plan on installing SH Commander 3.2 ? Can someone walk me through my next step to insure I can get supply at sea. I am assuming that SH Commander does not get me all the way there. The reason for this post is that on Sat. a buddy will come over and help me with all this stuff and I do not want to waste alot of his time. He is great when it comes to computer file management and I am bad at it. It might be my last opportunity to get back into SH III. By the way I have a 4 year old XP based system and as I said I had SH III up and going 2 years ago so I am sure it will work. Hope some one can write back soon Thanks

A super-mod?

You should install your mods first before SH3 commander

Default Which Mods

Ok can you tell me the correct sequence? Which mod do I install to get re-supply at sea? Then do I then install SH COmmander? Right now I have nothing installed not even SH III I want to do it right can you suggest sequence and correct mod. Am I on the right track with SH Commander?? Is there something else I should do instead of that???

Well, you install SH3, patch it, and then install whatever mods you want. If you're pretty good at stock, then install GWX or something, and then install SH3 commander.

SH3 commander is unique mod, and you will find that there is no other mod that does what it does.

Dear Johnlax,

I was pretty much in the same situation....
looking for a good mod with resupply at sea, and with an old PC....

I did this (in the order):

- Installed SH3
- Installed patch 1.4
- Installed GWX 3.0 (I think it's the best trade-off if your computer is not a killer)
- Installed SH3 Commander 3.2 (install files compliant with GWX 3.0)
- Selected my mods of choice via JSGME (to avoid conflicts between mods)

Suggestions:

- Always launch SH3 via SH3 Commander
- With JSGME always install/remove new mods when you are in port and
not in the middle of a patrol...

BE ADVISED 1:
I did not resupplied at sea yet, but I've read somewhere in the forum that if you plan to do that, you have to setup "days at port after patrol" = 0 in SH3 Commander BEFORE you leave port.....otherwise you resupply will last as a normal period on the shore between patrols (which cannot be!)
Can anybody confirm?
I also cannot remember if you have to turnoff the "malfunctions" in SH3 Commander if you use GWX 3.0 to prevent problems....
Once again....
Can anybody confirm?

BE ADVISED 2:
About location of resupply subs ("milch cows" or milk cows! )
I cannot remember where it was printed (LOCATION and DATE) but might be it should appear if you press F1 with GWX 3.0 activated.....

BE ADVISED 3:
These are the experiences and suggestions of a newbie!
Leverage the experience of the other experts of the forum!
There is a friendly cooperation and this forum is GREAT!

Good hunting Kaleun Johnlax!
Might your torpedoes never be dud!

Try not to think of SH3Cmdr as a mod like you would other SH3 mods. Indeed, SH3Cmdr is not a mod at all; it's a third-party stand alone application. You can install it anytime, anywhere, just like any other application. Running SH3Cmdr does no more than read settings from SH3 game files. SH3Cmdr only modifies SH3 game files when you press the "Launch SH3!" button (the tick). Until then it's quite innocuous.

Not so since SH3Cmdr R2.6. SH3Cmdr R2.6+ is smart enough to recognise when you have docked at a base that's not your home base and will automatically set the number of days to 1 (plus days required to repair any damage - an SH3 imposition). When docked at such a base (ie milk cow), you should notice your Commander status as being "In other base before patrol #", rather than "In home base before patrol #".

When GWX 3.0 was first released this was the case, but the GWX team have since released updated compatibility files... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147567
