What are the odds?

So I was at night in the middle of one of those ever-lasting storms with heavy rain and no visibility. And when I say no visibility, I mean it. In OLCE2 it's so damned dark and murky that I can't even see the outline of my watch officer when I stand on the bridge, just a big blur of rain. I surfaced to recharge batteries after cruising for the day at 60m... Of course I asked the sonar guy for a report before surfacing and he said ''No sound contacts''. Up we go, and I turn on the radar to do a sweep of the horizon. Nothing at all... One would have to be mad to sail in these conditions anyways. I went to TC 512x to recharge batteries and all of a sudden I get this:

''Ship spotted!''

And literally a second later, before I can even get on the bridge:

''Bow torpedo damaged!
Hull damaged sir!''

I try to see something from the bridge, but like I described earlier I can't even see the railing. So I press ''ctrl+v'' and the watch officer says something like ship ''090, short range''. I get in the uzo and exploit a little flaw in the game.. I lock the invisible target with it and ask for identification. The weapons officer, with his bionic eyes, says it's a...

Guess what...

A SLOOP :rotfl:

I rammed a 7 ton sailboat in the middle of the Atlantic... Seriously, what are the odds?!

even with OLCE2 in a storm at night with no moon it shouldnt be so dark that you couldnt see the sloop ramming you.

try adjusting your monitor's gamma up just a bit.

The game has a lot of surprises and possibility for weird incidents, that's what makes SH3, in particular with GWX such a fascinating game.

Fascinating it is. I hope you backed off 500 m and torped it in revenge....

I see this as another reason for using flak against these dangerous ships

Consider yourself lucky! I was in simlar weather and was quiet content to recharge my batteries, when suddenly I gettold the we are under attack! Out of the fog can a black swan! Crash Dive! Full left rudder! I get rammed by him and then have some dethp charges thrown in for good measure! I survived, but it wasn't pretty!

A third of my crew dead or injured. two tubes destroyed, the rest damaged, one electric engine good only for scrap, leaks in four compartments, deck and flack guns gone, periscopes out of action and my underwear in need of a change!

I did limp home, but I don't think the dockyard was happy with how I treated the boat!
