Every SH3 Modder should switch to SH4 - ATO!!!

i thought about this the whole last weeks, as i finally have some time left to start modding again. and i came to the conclusion, that working on sh3 is a waste of time, since sh4 (better graphics, better engine, deeper gameplay, etc.) came with its addon and the possibility to play german boats. and since ATO (atlantic theater operations!) mods have been built, sh3 is no longer the topic to deal with.

we can have all the lovely improvements of sh3 with its great supermods in sh4! thats why we should work on this! cause sh4 gives us a lot more potential, to have the best uboat-simulation ever!!!

but as long many modders are still working on sh3, a lot of time will pass...until we will have a nice sh4. sh3 modding has reached its peak. i think we should concentrate on sh4 ato-mods. i have the opinion, that everyone should give this "new" game a try! look what others have already done so far...

I do not agree!!!
SH3 is much more better than SH4, in various things. Espacially in handling, cameras, look and lock on targets etc.
Please, to every modder out there, please stay on SH3

Graphics are good but could have been better and in some place like on periscope are not good
Interface is horrible

I have SH4 with Spanish mod and OM rarely play

Many ppl will stay with SH3 for long time I think
Feels comfortable and with GWX is very good

No doubt others feel same with WAC/LSH3 and NYGM

well, the reason i never got sh4 was due to the lack of u-boats

i jusr dont have the same enthusiasm for the pacific theatre.

but.....now gwx team is moving on....and there is atlantic operations...i may well move on to sh4.

what do my fellow kaleuns think.....is it time to let my sh3 slip beneath the waves???

outwith graphics...i cant see how sh3 could be beaten.

I've got SH4 and its alright but like SH3 stock I've have a good feeling the GWX team will improve on it. I play 90% SH3 and only 10% SH4 that may change when we have a super mod for SH4 but I will always be more faithful to SH3.

sh4 with imported improvements of sh3, would beat it...everything that was mentioned before is also possible in sh4 and even much more!!! thats the point. just open your eyes, dudes. i also avoided SH4 a long time, as SH3 is simply much better gameplay, not to mention that even sh3 stock may have been better than sh4 uboat missions...but:

its in our hands to make the most of it, cause the engine is damn freakin! and i think no one would deny, that SH4-UM at the actual state of SH3 would be the GREATEST sim one would ever have seen!!! any doubts?

Most people complain about the SH4 interface... lol... its one of the easiest things to change!

Remember what OLC did with SH3 interface with his GUI?

Its that simple! Its all in the menu_1024.ini (or something like that). We might make it just like SH3, or even better!

In fact, I might do it myself... :hmm:

Remember... SH3 Stock was total crap compared to SH3+all of today's mods. And so is now SH4 Stock... it looks like crap, but stop to think how great it will be once it reaches the level of mods from SH3, it will trully be the best of the both.

Now, a lot of people might think "but we will never have a full atlantic campaign playing as germans", and I reply: We WILL have that, and even more! Just give the modders time to settle down and improve SH4.

If all the copies of SH3 disappeared from the world today, SH4 would be in top form in less then one year. But with SH3 out there, people will stay put, coz its comfy... so, patience, right?

I'm moving on to SH4, not because its better, but because it CAN be better!

As one Dan to another you hit the nail on the head my friend.
When SH4 can offer me the thrill and dangers of a full Atlantic campaign i think that would be the time for me to move over. Till then its the Atlantic and GWX for me.

I heard that convoys scatter realistically in SH4, instead of just doing that "weaving" thing they do in SH3. That's the only thing I've ever heard about SH4 that made it sound any better than SH3 to me - unless you count the SH4 graphics which my machine can't run.
