Why IZ IT?...

...I have a deck gun and can man it myself but I have no guncrew?

I don't even have slots on the crew screen for a deckgun crew though I do have a slot for for the AA gunner.

Could it be because I filled all the damage control slots and the sim considers the boat fully manned with no more open slots? If so...do I need to beach a couple of DC crewmen to open up slots for the guncrew?

Although that makes sense... you should be able to reasign the crew in cruise...

I'm just a noob, someone more experienced may be able to give you a satisfying answer...

What most likely happened was that after your first patrol, you changed your deck gun from Bow to Stern, or vice-versa. There is a bug in the stock game that eliminates the crew slots when you move a gun after the initial outfitting of the boat. Move the gun back to where it originally was and the crew slots should re-appear.

To be honest, I can't rightly remember whether I tried this trick and it worked or whether I read it a long time ago and then dreamed that it worked:rotfl:

When you get back into port, move the deck gun back where it came from.
Move the crew that you had in the deck gun slots into damage control (or anywhere away from the gun slots).
Move your deck gun to where you want it.
Hopefully, your crew slots will reappear and you can reman the gun.

Again, don't take this for gospel since my feeble mind can't recall whether it worked or not, but trying can't hurt (too much).
