Default Something Missing

Hi Folks

I'm new to this forum thing and SH3. Sorry if this has been asked before had there not been so many posts I might have trawled through them to try and find the answer.

I've installed the MODs as advised but I've noticed that on the map screen all of the contacts have lost their tails. They were originally their and you could tell there direction of travel but afer installing the MODs they have disappeared.

Minor problem but I hope someone can help

Cheers

Welcome to Subsim.

First off, you must have just installed GWX 2.1. The tails have been removed intentionally as they gave you too much situational awareness. However, not all is lost. If you click your mouse on the contact, it will give you heading/bearing & speed of that contact. Also, when you are within visual range of any contact, you can zoom in on the map and see the direction of travel and ship icon.

Enjoy.

There are mods available that replaces these tails but try the game without for awhile.

Hi Cameladventures,
firstly, welcome to Subsim.com

Like danlisa mentioned they have been removed intentionaly, I had to get used to it as well at first but because of this it made me use my Navmap even more with drawing lines in the dirrection they are heading to give a idea where I might meet them.
it didnt really effect my tonnage score, but it did made the game a bit more interactive
its a little detail you'll get used to after a while.

Same here. I think it made it better as I had to plot it's course rather than already knowing where it was going.

Welcome aboard, Cameladventures!

Intrigued by your nick. I used to run trecks with camels in Kenya.

There is a mod which puts them back but the author is unknown when he released it and I've ran a search that came back zip all. I can put up the mod for DL if you want it.

I love using the nav map and plotting ship directions, etc. adds much more realism and builds your skills! I am glad they took the tails and colors off. makes you take a close look at the flags too for identification.

I really like the mod that lets you ID warships (only) in red. It makes keeping track of convoy members a lot more manageable- especially with large, 24+ boat convoys. It's also quite realistic that you would color-code merchants vs. escorts.
