I haven't had any repeat patrols with TM 1.6.5. Sorry I can't tell you what the other mods are though. I'm gettin' old and forgetful .

I need to drop in from time and time again. Leaving a few months is like losing years.

Their in TM's support directory. Along with this bit of documention. I have to note thoguh, that i changed the default installation in the mod to the 3 month rotation, and not stock like this file says, i need to update that i guess

Quote:
The repeat patrol fixes are in the optional mod diretory. Stock flotilla assigments remain as the default installation on TM. The reason is, i decided to let you choose which you like.

Mission Assigments, How its supposed to work:
In stock, a submarine typically has anywhere between 5 and 7 areas of operation that it can receive. These area of operations consist of several submissions. Patrol, sink, photo, insert spy or commando, etc. These area of operations are typically available simultaniously. The idea is the game randomly pick an area of operations, and then, randomly pick a specific mission within that area. The trouble is, it doesnt always work that way.

How the "Fix" works:
For one reason or another, the game tends to default on certain areas more then others. (IE, "Honshu".) despite the fact that there are several other areas to choose from. How the "fix" works, is to limit the choice the game has, to force it to pick a new area. This is done by scripting when area of opreations are available, and greatly restricting the games choice of what areas it can choose to assign. So here are your choices:

- 2 Month Rotation:
In this modlet, the game has only one area to choose from, at any given point in time. So the game has no choice but to assign you the one area of operations open to it. This choice forced upon the game, is rotated once every 2 months, which about the time it takes to complete a single patrol. Or in other words, every 2 months, the game is forced to use a different area of operations.

- 2 Month Rotation, more special operations:
This modlet is identical to the the one above, except that every other mission, it is forced to give you a special operations mission of some kind. Photo, insert spy or commando, etc. If you like a more varied and "exciting" hollywoodesque career game, this is probably your option.

- 3 month Rotation:
This modlet is similar to the 2 month rotation, except it varies in two ways. First, area of operations for the game to choose from, are rotated on a 3 month basis instead of a 2 month basis. Secondly, during this 3 month window, not one, but two area of operations are available for the game to choose from. For example, starting a career game in 1941, the game can choose to assign you to patrol the Marshall Islands, OR Honshu. This mod was meant to be less "hard scripted", which I beleive is a failing of the previous two fixes. By way of comparision, if you start a career game in 1941 with the previous two fixes, you know your going to be doing *something* in Hokkido, each and every time you start a game at that date.

There is one failing to this mod. The game still tends to default to some areas over others. If given the choice between Honshu and the Marshall islands, then game will default to honshu 5 out of 6 times. Plus, a 3 month window means that you have a high likelyhood of being in port again, during the same 3 month time window you orginally left at. So you have a chance of doing a patrol to an area of operations twice, before moving on to a new area.
