"BdU proudly announces to all Kaleuns and the rest of the world that U-108, commanded by the bold Kptlt. Huskalar, has sunk 13 enemy ships with a total tonnage of 150,587"
![]() BdU decided to send me to the cold grid of AE87. And because it was December (1940) I expected some rough weather. This turned out to be so when I arrived at AE87. After completing my orders I headed south for the Halifax-Liverpool shipping lane. When I got there the weather was perfect. That is, for a sunbath. Clear skies and almost no wind. But in my opinion that's not the ideal weather for a convoy attack. ![]() Anyway, after a few days I received a contact report of a large enemy convoy some 300 kilometers to the NW. I intercepted and immediately attacked the convoy at dusk, sinking 3 big merchants. While I was busy attacking the last one, I spotted a Revenge class BB sailing in another part of the convoy. ![]() After losing the 3 DD's I started chasing the convoy for another attack to get that BB. As in the first attack I was able sneak through the DD screen and got the U-108 lined up perfectly for a succesful attack on the BB. I fired 4 torpedos at almost point blank range and witnessed the big explosion that followed with great satisfaction. ![]() I carried out 4 more attacks on the convoy. Although I got detected before I could fire my torpedos on one occasion. During the other attacks I sank as many big merchants as I could. Resulting more than 5900 renown points and my most succesful patrol so far. ![]() |
