Default This "tactic" worked !!!

16th of March 1941, Celtic Sea.

After a pretty successful attack on a large convoy (1 escort + 1 merchant) i dived to the bottom with two DD's on my trail. I got a heavy DC hammering before my boat rested at the bottom (89m).
Stopped the flooding, turned off the engines and rigged back to silent. Both escorts were dropping charges around me for almost 2hrs without much luck though.
I managed to raise the boat 2m above the bottom and silently moved north leaving both DD's behind. To my astonishment, they were still pounding the same old place while i was slipping away.
Nerve wrecking 2hrs to say the least, but it was worth it. Surfacing to the blue emptiness of the sea and sky has never felt better.
Now i don't know if this can be used as tactic or was that just a struck of pure luck, either way i survived another patrol!

I just love it when that sort of thing happens, so cool, it's near real.

I agree. One of the most satisfying things in the whole game for me is escaping what looked like certain death....

Nice job captain.

I attacked a convoy once, I attacked a DD, got 4 on my tail And since Im new to the game (still learning) I just layed at around 15 m under the sea.... Not smart..

I got rid of one, sunk one with stern torpedo and sunk another with fore and got sinked by the last...

Well done. I usually end up stuck on the bottom of the ocean after an attack like that. Though I guess its to be expected when I keep sneaking into British harbours to pick of the shipping as they leave port. A habit I will need to break upon install of gwx.
