Default New Kaleuns Report Here

I've gotten the feeling there's a lot of new kaleuns lately who have come to SH3 for the first time recently. So I'd like to ask how many out there have started playing SH3 in the last three months for the first time? And what brought you to SH3?

Thanks ahead of time for your responses....

Greetings;
I picked up the game around Christmas time to check out, glad I did.
Had SHII installed for a time on the last pc. Then I built a new machine with more then enough nads for this game. Motherboard uses AGP but its a good 256 ATI card, couldn't see tossing it. I also use a 17" CRT, maybe it's me but I think they are much better for games.
I have an interest in U-Boats that well, probably has alot to do with a similar interest in World War history. Every game has a few issues, but it is a game and I plan to have some fun with it. SHIII allows us to play the game with plenty off settings or levels, plus there's good talent to be found in these mods.

Hi all - many of you know me already since I've asked so many questions.

I picked up the game last week after perusing these forums as a lurker and doing a little research. It turns out Kretschmer worked on AOTD and I'm pretty sure another U-boot ace skipper worked on SH2, and I wanted of course to get the most intense experience in simulation.

The reason I wanted to pick up a U-boot sim? I come from a family of submariners, and I recently saw the completely uncut version of Das Boot. I think the movie is an incredible metaphor for personal trauma, and what one has to do to make "something out of nothing" in one's life.

I have to admit that going to external cameras and seeing a fast-steaming destroyer prowling around with a floodlight was chilling to say the least. The game is an amazing experience.

+ it's quite cool there's a supportive bunch of cats on this who can help me with my frustration at the inadequate manual...it's a little too silent as well!!

cheers

Got it at Christmas (present from my wife ). Spent the last few years flying in Il2 but was aware of SH3, just didn't get round to it.

So first thing I saw was no swastikas on German flags, didn't look right so I looked for an enabler (just like I had for Il2 ) and found GWX! Wow was I pleasantly surpised!

GWX was installed for mission 3 of training, SH3 Commander soon after. So I can't fairly judge the original SH3 but it makes what came after possible...

Great game, brilliant modding community and great forum here with lots of helpful people (Ubi forum seems good as well, as is the Il2 one if you like a bit of variety entertainment with your advice).

My thanks to everyone involved!

Started about 1-2 months ago. What brought me to SH3? Simply SH2 that is in my opinion in some aspects better than SH3 (at least the stock version).

Hi to all kaleuns

Picked up the game at ridicously low price of £6 around Christmas :p
Always been WW2 "Game" fan
Il2 Sturmovik,FB,PF,Pe-2,1946
Call of Duty,CoDUO,CoD2
Sudden Strike (nearly but not quite enough.... )
Tried SH2 late 05 but couldn't get past RED SCREEN with pic of Sub on it

Found SubSim through previous info from my "flying" buddies
GWX recommended and linked by mr chris as well as Dec 23 patch
AI tricky but not pulling off impossible stunts like il2 series

WTH... Welcome aboard, all the new guys from all over the world!

Isn't it amazing? Americans, Scandinavians, Germans, Slavians, Australians, Japanese, Indonesians, Jews/Israelis, Romanians, Russians... All of them in the same forum. Will I'll ever be able to finally believe it? (when are we going to meet any French here?)

perhaps the french could bring their own subs I'd love a go in the surcouf.

Oh, back to thread I played sh1 and destroyer command (and IL2 like nearly everyone ) before i found SH III while looking for xmas prezzies (mummy like Atlantic war books) so just bought it for myself

Got GWX now so keep dying because I can't resist taking on convoys in the shallows.

Work in London so if anyone wants to arrange a drink up sometime....

I've been around for some time. Although I happen to live in Germany at the moment, I have a french passport...

Is the passport yours? I've got a Greek one, for example, bought for 1 Deutsch Mark at Omonoia Square, Athens... :rotfl:
