Thats not a WWII DD, its a 1970's DD that was called HMAS Stuart that just so happens to have been made out of Aluminium, not steel. How do I know, because HMAS Stuart in her day was Berthed in my home town, and she was sunk off the very same coast in a MK48 Torpedo Test Firing from the new Collins Class sub.

The sub is the HMAS Farncomb (SSG 74)

Thanks for clearifying. Those comments at the site weren't really helpful ;)
Still an impressive display of what modern torps can do :)

I did a bit more reading up on the excersice, turns out the DE that was fired at is actually the HMAS Torrens (DE-53) River Class destroyer escort, and not HMAS Stuart (DE-48) which was also a River Class destroyer escort, hence the similiarities in appearance.
