SH3 Commander 2.6 has been in the factory for quite a while now, any idea when it will be released ?

Cheers, ...

He's still fine-tuning. He said maybe late this last weekend, but I don't care...I wants it peeerrrrrrfect!

And I'm willing to wait...

I agree with sailor steve. This mod is so good I am willing to wait indefinitely for it. JScones always does things so well; he is trying to include several new ideas and wants to make sure everything works.

Aw gee, put the pressure on me now guys. :rotfl:

FYI Rubini's asked for a late inclusion, and I always listen to Rubini ('cause he argues with me when I don't ), so I am just finalising that for his testing. Hopefully I'm still on track for a release late this weekend, but I won't be rushing it out if it's not ready.

Cool....I wait with baited breath. Would love to have it up and running before starting Patrol 2 in WaW.

And I agree, JSCONES work is always of the highest quality.

Any chance it can defaulted for use with mutiple versions of SHIII? :yep:
I want to use this with Grey Wolves and with NYGM 2.0 and have tried what was posted earlier (creating shortcut etc) but it always launches my Grey Wolves version even when I pointed it to the NYGM. :lost:

SH3Cmdr has supported multiple SH3 installations since R2.1. Simply set up separate shortcuts to SH3Cmdr on your desktop pointing to each installation. Shortcuts must be in format:

TARGET: "C:\<wherever>\SH3 Commander\SH3Cmdr.exe" /l:"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\<name of unique installation>"

Repeat for each installation. Give the shortcuts corresponding names, and click the one you want resembling the game you want to play.

It may be worth pulling the startup switches up out of the the release notes proper into a seperate command line usage section. Most people tend to not read past the current version features, myself included unless I have a specific reason.

I give you credit for documenting it, but its kinda buried as is.

It's the first listed feature in the Help file!

I hope to have R2.6 released this weekend.

Final feature set:
- Added ability to change crew officer faces (includes automatic 3D head and hat wearing alignment)
- Crew transfer message now includes crewman's main qualification
- Added new "Static settings" feature
- Changes to "Randomised events.cfg" file - refer to instructions in header of file
- Added ability to recognise when docked at a milk cow or other friendly base and automatically adjust the number of days spent in base to 1 (plus any extra days required to repair damage)
- Improved backup mechanism for scene.dat and Basic.cfg files
- Improved copy mechanism for unique crew configurations
- Randomising new crew names now includes number of patrols, certain medals and experience (ie you're no longer limited to a purely "green" crew everytime you start a new career)
- US rank labels are now the same as stock SH3. SH3 Commander does not support rank "bumping", that is, changing your starting rank to anything higher than the SH3 default
- Crew Manager now warns where crewmen have been awarded the U-boat War badge prior to 13 October 1939
- Crew Manager now warns where crewmen have been awarded the Wound Badge but not the U-boat War badge
- Now looks for and runs SH3Weather if it exists just prior to launching SH3 (when in base during or at the start of a career)
- Added new fatigue model - Grey Wolves 24 Hour
- Added ability to randomise main screen banner - refer to "!!BANNER INSTRUCTIONS!!.txt" under the Banners folder
- Minor adjustments to main interface
- Minor adjustments to all Cfg files
- Hemisent's simulated equipment malfunctions plus optional damage caused by sabotage (simulates the effect of equipment malfunctions plus damage caused by sabotage by randomly reducing default equipment specifications)

As you can see quite a bit of work has been put into this release, thus quite a bit of testing has been required. Testing is now in the final stages.

Great news! Looking forward to the final version-now you can rest up a bit until SHIV makes it out.

Regarding SH3 weather, I've used it and it works great but there is a bit of confusion regarding saves. Will there be a better readme included in Commander.

Did anything ever come of the discussion awhile back about having multiple crew members transferred instead of just one at a time?

SH3Cmdr won't be including SHWeather, it will just run it if it already exists on the player's computer.

Not implemented. I simply didn't have time to research the feature (I didn't want to rely on summisings or US Submarine comparisons).

JScones,

Will SH3CMDR 2.6 include random thermal layers?

Speaking of transfers, from the bit of research and information I could find, at the end of each patrol the captain was responsible for assigning some of his crew off the boat (via promotion and transfer to a school, or promotion onto another boat, and so on). Some captains didn't do this, but it eventually came around to bite them in the end where they may lose half their crew when BdU finally caught up with him.

In general, I find that one-sixth of the crew should leave after each patrol. So I turned off the feature in SH3 Commander and now roll d6 for each crewman. If I roll a 1 I dismiss that crewman. I do something different for IWO and IIWO, where after half a dozen patrols I will generally dismiss the IWO then bump the IIWO up to IWO and bring in a new IIWO.

It works pretty well except that in real life for every guy you dismissed you would get a replacement that was not necessarily inexperienced. You might lose a guy with 6 patrols under his belt but you might get a replacement that had 4 patrols, or 8! Currently you can't do that in SH3 Commander, so I'm penalizing myself a little too much now. With 2.6 if you can bring in new crew with prior experience, then it should work pretty well with my 1d6 method.

Already in R2.5.

R2.6 will not have inward transfers or replacements.

If I ever get the energy for an R2.7, then it's the first thing on my "to-do" list.

Ok, I've downloaded it. I just want to make sure before I set it up (so I don't lose my WaW campagin stuff.)

What do I back up to make sure this doesn't happen? Just the personel folder in my docs? And then I roll back, uninstall it and install the new one?

JScones

Hehe. Likewise. There's actually stock SH3Cmdr settings that don't appeal to me. So the first thing I do is install it properly (ie my "live" copy) and tweak all the cfg files to suit me.

And there's so much more I can tweak now. ;)

Here are a set of updated files Observer tested today for compatibility. The lockups are caused by alterations in the hex offests, mostly used for the randomized crush depth feature.

Observer tested these files in single mission (TypeVIIB) and campaign (TypeIIA, VIIC, IXB, IXC, IXD2) and all worked fine for him. If you have altered or otherwise previously used a version other than these files, be sure to roll back. You may have to do a clean install if the roll back does not correct the altered hex offsets.

These files are installed in the SH3 Commander\Cfg folder. As before, be sure to make backups of the necessary files.

The malfunction and sabotage features included in this version of SH3 Commander will break various aspects of NYGM TW v2.2 without some serious updates to the Randomized Events.cfg file.

One other area to watch out for when using SH3 Commander is the crash dive. They have included a very deep setting for crash dive (in order to simulate jammed dive), but you can very easily get the crash dive blues if not careful. I have read, but not tested the following post by clive bradbury:

From Subsim http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=95473:

See my topic 'now we have a real submarine simulation'. Still testing , but this approach seems to resolve the 'crash dive blues'.

1. Initiate a crash dive.
2. Interrupt it, and your boat sits tail down (the blues).
3. Initiate an upwards depth change with the 'set_depth' command.
4. Hit 'maintain depth' ('A' key) and your boat levels out beautifully.

Big Problem with Commander 2.6
When i start a single Mission my SH3 falls on the loading screen (loadingscreen when i start a enemy-driven). When i start a game without SH3 Commander and start a enemy-driven i have no Problems ?!
wtf plz help me !!!

What do you mean "enemy-driven"

The game falls when i start a "Feindfahrt".
During the loading procedure it continues at one time and does not continue. I must then press Strg+Alt+Entf to terminate the game. If I the play without Commander then have I no problems.

Are you running NYGM? If so, have you d/l the *latest* compatibility fix?

If you are not running NYGM, what mods, if any, are you running?

And going back a step, did you rollback your previous SH3Cmdr installation prior to uninstalling?
