When using SH3 COMMANDER with NYGM is it OK to use the other options other than the ones listed in the NYGM instructions?

For example: Is it OK to select to use realistic career length, transfers, dates....ect. ect.?

When you start a career should you use stock sh3 crew file or realistic?

I just reinstalled SH3 after a long lay off from playing it and all the mods are just flat out confusing at first. :o

Thanks!

Basically, if a mod doesn't provide suggested SH3Cmdr settings, then it's OK for you to set whatever you like.

One thing though, the Career Options and Text Settings won't clash with anything - set them how you want.

Thank You Sir!

Both for the answer and for the time you've put into Commander. :yep:

If you want to use the NYGM Fatigue Model, leave the Crew settings and fatigue models unchecked.

I remember not checking the fatigue model but I don't know about the crew settings. Which crew settings should I leave unchecked? Or was there a whole tab called crew settings?

I'm at work now so I can't see it first hand...hopefully it'll be clear once I get home...

The one on the first tab where you set up for a new career. NYGM overwrites the default SH3 Crew Model. There are also some changes to the crew qualifications and numbers, and a change to the engine compartments with NYGM...

I was aware of those changes that NYGM makes and that is what made me wonder if SH3 Commander would interfere with it since Commander would be expecting to modify the stock files not the NYGM modified ones.

Like I said earlier...it's a little confusing :o

When you set up a new career using SH3 Commander, leave the "Use Crew" option to Standard SH3. This will use the new crew configurations provided by NYGM TW. Also, under the SH3 Options button, make sure "Use fatigue model" is not checked on the Gameplay Settings page. With those two changes, you should be set on the fatigue model.

Also, if you are using the most recent version of SH3 Commander, be sure to go to the SH3 Commander/Cfg/Ship displacements.cfg and make sure you change the "RenownAwardedEqualsRandomTonnage" key from 0 to 1 and save. This will ensure there are no discrepancies between career and patrol tonnage values. Your entry should look like this:

[SETTINGS]
DispPrecision=10
RenownAwardedEqualsRandomTonnage=1
