This game is missing some realistic Morse communication with Bdu. Maybe one of the other internal sub sounds can be replaced, or a sound added?

In any event, I've made a *somewhat* accurate and I feel realistic sounding Morse WAV file which runs about 2:06 in length. "What" exactly to send came from this interesting web site-

http://www.codesandciphers.org.uk/enigmafilm/index.htm

My Morse WAV file is found here-
www.delraydepot.com/tt/morse.wav

Some detail-
The contact signals from U-boats were short signals sent by radio. They were short to avoid the radio signals being direction found from the UK.

The contact signals were composed by the U-boat operator using a signal code book and then enciphered on his Enigma machine.

The main body of the signal text was only 22 characters long, and it was sent in 4 letter code groups.

Example-
SC28/04/43 0940 7369 A348
LQB 0910/28/04/43 QGMI VVEE SERQ YGBW IAHK HW

In the Morse WAV supplied, I've simulated a U-Boat transmission with Bdu, and a response. It includes radio static crashes. The first Morse you hear is the U-Boat transmission. The second is Bdu replying, a weaker and wavering signal.

Totally accurate or not, it might be fun to add to the game in some capacity. If anybody wants have a crack at that, feel free to use the file.

Hi TT!

Can I ask you a question? It's a little OT...

Did you stop playing SH3 for a while? I noticed that you were absent for a very long time, and then suddenly, you returned to the scene.

So if you did return, what happened? Did the community happen to perk your enthusiasm? I'm glad if we managed to do that. Though I'm not sure if your wife is happy or not... :D

Anyways, it's great to have someone like you! Timetraveller, you are a super-modder IMHO!

Thanks marhkimov! Glad to be back "tweaking" again!

Yeah, I took a little break for awhile, mostly to do some other gaming stuff. One of the things I did was I went back to Enigma Rising Tide to have another attempt at cracking (unpacking) their game files and finally succeeded on this try. Sooo, then I wrote a modding tool for ERT so that game could be modded.

Anyway, here I am again. Still lots to do and think about with this game. It's an amazing sim. I learn new stuff about it all the time. This is sure a fun group with all you guys.

I agree, it's good to have you back. I think you hit the nail on the head with the morse topic. Once again thanks for the wave file.

Ok....i broke up the sound......

One is strictly the RO sending out morse....

The other one is BDU sending back morse with the RO...calling out "Cipher Officer"
I put it in with my Grammaphone.......it adds a nice Feeling...

Of course all Thanks to Timetraveller..... :know:

Anyone intrested in it?

Good idea for a mod! Combine the morse sounds with the speech files of the Radio Op saying "message sent" and "transmission received" so that they get played automatically in the game.
