Ok, the Butler is wonderfull !!

But still I think, that the Destroyers in the early years have to be better, because in reality it wasnt that easy to escape in 1941 or 1942 !!

try the test again it may work out differently and the Butler may be awfull then you'll have to run ALL the tests again--and again --and again - and again--knock your self out--

Don't know what RUB does but in my testing there's definately a difference comparing CB's settings in a non RUB campaign vs with RUB. Plus there seems to be a differance between campaign behaviour and single mission behaviour. Sounds goofy but this was discussed a while back in the thread. Also something to keep in mind is that some people experienced Uber DD AI behavior and others were playing with absolutely deaf, dumb and blind DD behavior(me).....go figure.
Right now I'm in my second campaign mission early 1944 things are getting tough but not stupid. I've pretty much got the gameplay to where I like it using a bit of a mix n match settings from all the hard earned info gathered on this post. My hat is definately off to CB as He came up with a great workaround. I'm using his gameplay behaviour as a benchmark.
More later.

@CB..

Just one thing to say:
I tried yesterday your mod with an Hunt II Elite Destroyer in 1941 and he wasn´t able to find me when i was diving on 180 m with full speed !!!

Now I will test another Destroyer.

Wolf

then i suggest you thank your lucky stars and go sink some merchants--dang this is getting tediuos--how many times?

this DD is crap- this DD is too good that DD is nearly as good as i want him to be but he does this instead of that---welcome to the real world--

i've told you it's pointless-- :yep: play a career thru then come back

Hi CB,

I am just curious...why do you not use RUb? It seems like so many people on this forum are RUb users and you and some other notable folks do not. Any particular reason? As I said, I am just curious... :hmm:

I don't use RUb... at least not the entire thing.

There are too many options "forced" (and by forced, I use this term very losely) upon the individual user.

Not speaking for CB, but I only take certain aspects of RUb, IUB, and other mods and combine them to my liking. I do not rather enjoy the fact that someone else has decided what is the "best" overall game for me. I put MY game together the way I want to play it...

No one has to agree with my ways, and I certainly hope no one takes any offense to this. And in no way am I putting down RUb, IUB, or any other "big" mod. I just like personal customization.

same as Marhkimov really---it seems to me you need to play the game (any game) long enough as stock to actually decide wether or not there are things about the gameplay you think might be improved---how will you notice the improvements or not if you haven't tried the game to the fullest extent as stock---and being a modder by that time i have started work on changing the bits and bobs i want to change--
i don't like one shot change everything mods--and i especially don't like realism mods--fine for some folks--but personally i don't think i'm Erich Topp! and no amount of "realism" is going to turn me into him!

no i look for gameplay --can't stand "realism"--it's a slightly mad concept realism in a computer game and allways a contradiction in terms----and i say my interpretation is as good as any one elses--i can see the attraction tho---but it rarely really cuts deep gameplay wise-- that doesn't deny the work involved tho :yep: but frankly it gives me the creeps

Although since I agreed with Beery on most things and have helped him on quite a few ideas, my own install is currently about 80% RUb.

That said, I'm yet to run into a real problem with this mod with my RUb-ish install. What exactly is the difference?

I am digging this up due to Hemisents Thermal Layers as I think I can build my own version now.

Hemisent, What is your current DD setup and can you share it.

I want my DD to hear me at 5000 m + if I go rushing in like a cowboy. Previously this would also enable them to hear me on silent running. Your thermal layer idea may now have fixed this problem of having absolutely no way of escape.

I am presuming that If I use your thermal Layer mod, I may be able to compensate the uber hearing of their Hydrophones at close range when I re boost them for better long range.

I know there are many theories on this DD issue so I am just building my own version and using sh3 commander probability to fix the general faults as discussed on here.

I am afraid I am just getting too close to convoys and I do not like or understand why they cannot see my periscope in some places.

Can anyone explain my GW changed the visual ranges of DD? I cannot find any history or notes on the subject :damn:

Hi Guys

Sorry for butting in like this, but has you "mod" or changes been tested in GWX?

I used to program way back when Radio Shack brought out they machine. But that's so far back in history, I am now lost in everything.

Hi Rob,

This element is probably one of the most extensively tested items in GWX. I consider it to be a matter that is solved. The detonation depth variance has been changed so that DC's are not laser guided... but not so diffuse that they don't do their job.:arrgh!:

hmm i put 3 elite destoyers and myself in a type 7 threw mission editor and was able to escape maybe 30% of the time if i consitraded its not the depth charges its those dam hedge hogs that are downright evil

Boy, talk about nostalgia. We spent more hours on this thread with back and forth testing, ideas being put forth etc, etc. A lot of hair got pulled out on this one.

Thanks Kpt.

I haven't really got into GWX yet as I have been a little ill, but I have just started my first mission, from Kiel, and that was an adventure in itselef. I didn't know about the "auto-plot" so I made my own route through the canal. I hit shore three times thereby having to start over and finally made it to AN94. My patrol grid is AN21. Hope that it will be an enjoyable adventure.

Thanks for all the work you and your fellow modders for working so diligently into putting such an extensive super-mod together. I especially love the howl of the wolf at the beginning because, originally from the Indian Reserve in Ontario, I would love to go outide at night and listen to them howl.

Anyway, thanks a lot. I'm sure I will have many questions and hope I will not be a nusiance while I learn to play GWX.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Rob
