Hi All,
Has anyone else wanted a Crash Dive option when your crew spots aircraft while on the surface? Would it be possible to mod this option for the popup screen with the options: Engage Target, Maintain Current Orders, Dive To Periscope Depth? Would also come in handy when you're suddenly being engaged.
:-?

You can use the C key on keyboard....or be like me and shoot them down

Savages_Wolf doesn't mean the hotkey button for crash dive (C). He wants the option box to inclue a crash dive option, in addition to the already offered Engage Target, Maintain Current Orders, and Dive To Periscope Depth...
Sorry, I'm just clearing up the misunderstanding, but I have no idea how to mod such a thing.

You have to keep in mind that if you crashdive in shallow water it's a big risk you hit the bottom and damage the boat.
On thing you can do is to have it set for "periscope depth" and then hit the "C" button only when you know you are in deep enough water for performing a chrashdive.
I'd love a crash dive option.

Rulle34 is right, I've crashed dived and hit the bottom too in a panic to escape an aircraft attack, I think you can hit the "C" then level off after you get under.

i would love it...the most time i am in deeper waters (atlantic), so there wouldnt be a bottom hit problem...
is it possible?

Ah, but if it was automatic you could still level off manually and it would get you under a whole lot quicker than going to peri depth.

You are right and I didn't say it was impossible.
Some idea how to mod it?

what i hate is how the stupid CE says "yes sir" when i hit C, instead of just screaming alarm, seems like a wasted 2-3 seconds

2-3 sec can be the difference between life and a deathtrap :o
:yep:
"yes sir, just let me finish my coffee and newspaper and put my hat back on.... there we go... ALAARM!!"

I would sooner fight it out on the surface what's the point of haveing all that AA firepower on your boat, and when you see a aircraft you crash dive?

Basically, the major difference between crash dive & dive to PD
is the speed in which you get under & out of sight. Crash dive
will increase speed to flank when used whereas going to PD
will not. I usually hit "C" only in deep water but will follow the
"C" with the "P" key a few seconds later to regulate the diving
depth when in shallow water. This works very well but timing
between the keys is critical & takes practice....

Yeah when a aircraft is inbound you need every second you can get! I know that you can use the C button to crash dive, the thing is, I play the game to where the dialog always comes up because in specific circumstances I may want to either engage the target, or evade the target. It all depends on how many torpedoes I have left or if im after a convoy and want to save torpedoes or maybe its a target with low renown. I use the time compression feature and usually when a airplane or 2 or maybe 5 :o spot me and start to engage me by the time my crew spots the aircraft and the dialog comes up it’s already to late and i need to dive quickly. If you actually try it, the game will not let you crash dive when you click C while the dialog is still up. You have to select a option for it to go away and then order a crash dive which by that time its already to late. Since it takes a few seconds for your crew to say "Yes Sir, Crash Dive" and make it actually happen.

Thats what I do also, after I issue the crash dive order, while my ship is going under, ill check the depth in the area and if its shallow ill order a Pariscope depth order to level me off in shallow water so i still get the advantage of diving quicker.

I feel the same way, it would be nice to hear them scream AALLAARRMM!!!

Quite interesting. Would resemble Das Boot, when using the "remember my choice" option. :D

would be nice to just have a big fat "ALARM" button next to the other controls on the bottom left, which sounds the alarm the instant you push it

I'd like to see a whole new control panel of alarm choices.
*General alarm
*Fire alarm
*Incoming exploding dolphin alarm
Just think of the possibilities ;)
You'd be able to keep up the variety in your emergency diving drills :-j

Uhhh...you can hear them scream ALAAAARM!!!!!.
I know they have a sound mod that has that sound file in..not sure which but I believe it is one of the Das Boot sound mods...or you can do what I did.Download the RUB mod and only use the voice sound files that come with it.That one will send shivers down your spine when you hear it.
I love the Das Boot alarm sound they put in there. Really makes crash diving seem more urgent.

Yeah, but there is a delay of a couple of seconds between doing it manually and it happening automatically when an aircraft is spotted. Seeing as my last three careers were ended by aircraft I need all the help I can get...

Your lucky. My last three careers ended because of stupidity. I really need all the help I can get.
Cheers!
