I was browsing through a bunch of mods, deciding what I'd like to try next when I came across a couple that add extra units into the game. Extra ship types (both naval and merchant), and extra aircraft types. This sounds great but I'd just like I'm concerned that installing them may overwrite other types of ships or cause weirdness with convoy composition or random ship selection. I'd hate to have a new ship replace a standard one, or to have a convoy full of new vessels that dont have proper pathing, such as a new heavy cargo ship that doesnt know how to move and so doesnt, or that gets assigned a much smaller vessels characteristics, therby moving and acting as, say an elco.

Are these concerns well founded, or is adding new units a simple and straight forward thing, resulting in nothing but happiness, bliss and an enriched life?

Well I am using sergbutos folowing mods...

1. Two extra merchants
2. Southampton class cruiser
3. Two Floatplanes mod

And as far as I know non of the above merchants will appear in convoys nor the cruiser in Task Forces.You would need to edit the RND layer file in the campaign folder and add them to the convoys/Task Forces yourself for them to appear with them I believe.

However I have had them appear as individual ships in the game though.

So for the most part your fears are unfounded..and it is pretty straightforward install of them.Though to get the Southamptn Cruiser to work you have to install the floatplanes mod also I think.
And none of the above ships replace any stock vessels in the game but simply add two more to the list.The floatplanes do not replace anything either as far as I know.

Oops, sorry about the poor forum choice. Thanks for catching that Gizzmoe. And thanks for the reply CWorth. As for the avatar, I know I'm new and all but my guy looks like a twelve year old that eats nothing but {insert 1940s German equivalent of Twinkies here}. :oops: Hardly my image of... well... any type of military really. Oh well, you've got to start somewhere.

Wrong! The cruiser will appear in Task Forces because they are scripted in through the generic Type option, not by Class.

Thanks for the clarification sergbuto..

I wasnt sure if it was the same as the Merchants or not.
