Rittenhouse's successful use of "self defense" in the state criminal trial pretty much negates any civil rights charges at the federal level. Wrongful death lawsuits won't fare any better then the Wisconsin criminal trial for the same reason.

When i read about this this morning there was no hint of a terrorist or politically-motivated incident. I did not read anything about BLM, not even at Fox News. Only hint was the criminal suspect was "fleeing from a crime".

Caitlin Foster is among San Francisco shopkeepers who have repeatedly had to clear away used needles and other drug paraphernalia outside the bar she manages. And after too many encounters with armed people in crisis, the Seattle transplant’s affection for her adopted city has soured.
“It was a goal to live here, but now I’m here and I’m like, ‘Where am I going to move to now?’ I’m over it,” said Foster, who manages Noir Lounge in the trendy Hayes Valley neighborhood.
San Franciscans will vote in June on whether to recall District Attorney Chesa Boudin, a former public defender elected in 2019 whose critics say he’s too lenient on crime. His supporters say there’s no crime surge, and that corporate wage theft is a more pressing issue than cases like that of a San Francisco woman finally arrested after stealing more than $40,000 in goods from a Target over 120 visits.
“Where’s the progress? If you say you’re progressive, let’s get the homeless off the street, and let’s get them mental health care,” said Brian Cassanego, a San Francisco native who owns the lounge where Foster works.
Cassanego moved to wine country five months ago after stepping out one day to find a man who “looked like a zombie,” with his pants down to his knees and bleeding from where a syringe was stuck on his hip. A woman cried out nearby in shock.
“I went upstairs, and I told my wife, ‘We’re leaving now! This city is done!’” he said.

In guarding ATM technicians in public on the mean streets of SF(17 years), I encountered 'camps' of homeless on the feces-pocked sidewalks, calmly situated on chairs, under umbrellas, with dogs, heavy-laden shopping carts...mixing up and shooting Mexican brown heroin into their abdomens... right in front of me!?? and my 4-man crew. I inform them: "I'm not a cop"... so they'll not stab me with a needle! (Two nice 50ish moms from Memphis; sitting on the curb within 3' of me!!)The ATM installers, generally from out-of-state, unaccustomed to inner city squalor, are petrified at the 100+ persons within feet of the machines they're supposed to install, program & service in public. Fortunately, on more than one occasion, I'd been able to spot & summon a passing patrolling pickuptruck steam-cleaning Spanish-speaking poop-crew to swiftly remove the feces and cause the encampment to shuffle off temporarily; much to the relief of my techs...and the afflicted shopkeepers along that stretch of concrete. One, a small shoebox taqueria , fed my guys for free, :yeah: and the State and Federal building employees from directly across the street, flocked into his shop for lunch...no longer impeded accesswise by homeless campers. Wow, the streets of Bogota are better, plus drugstores don't explode there anymore. :D

On the bright side, at least they don't have far to fall.
