Hi all
I am having problems with CTD after 30 minutes-or-so gameplay and as a result have spent hours on the forum trying to find a solution. I have tried to match Sober's mod list as closely as possible with my mod soup after all the searching for solutions but to no avail :/\\!!
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you really want that minimal, start with getting the updated versions, or better yet, dress down sober's list to include what you want, and then add your DE stuff .. check DE's notes for compatability ...
I have not seen that mod come across any modlist recently .. not sure if it's current, compatible, sortof bug-free or not, etc.

Your computer specs should be okay. I have a slighlty lesser performant system (same OS, CPU i5 430M, 4 GB of RAM, same GPU), and the game runs decently
Dynamic Environment SH5 Basemod (realistic version) V2.1 => this is outdated, get the latest version and relative submods from here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=2016079#post2016079)

Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 => this missing component is likely the main source of your problems. Get it from EUF's official thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1636046#post1636046)
#Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1_HotFix

* Not sure if the mods marked with an asterisk are reciprocally compatible, and in which order. They could be another source of problems. Put them at the end of your list, and enable them one by one, checking in game if everything is okay before you enable the next one. BEWARE OF MODS OVERWRITING EACH OTHER'S FILES. Check their ownl threads for furher information.

Okay great, will do thanks again PLJ :D
I've played these mods since last year and didn't really receive as many ctd's (once every few hours) in the previous campaigns as I am doing now in Mare Nostrum... Just a thought :hmmm:
Any particular mod recommendations that you would perhaps replace my mod list with? I realise my mods might be a little outdated now since the last time I downloaded mods was during the later part of last year (shocking I know :88))
Thanks Gap for the comprehensive response with the links for the updates (I dig links ) I will test them out again this weekend -hopefully - once my calculus and linear algebra paper is out the way :know:

For a start, have you seen my last post? (we almost clicked the "send" button in the same instant :03:
If I was on you, I would also check Trevally's thread SH5 Mod Guide for Beginners (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1806557#post1806557) for more information. It contains all you need to know from the beginning, as well as updated links to other useful posts/threads, including sober's, Fifi's and Sjizzle's long mod lists

I'd go with gap's advice over mine any day .. my knowledge is limited. Sober's list + minor adaptations works well for me.

My pleasure DeepWaterDaz, in our own small way here on subsim we follow the ubuntu ethics. I am sure you know what I mean :)

yep, don't ovelook your school work: algebra and trigonometry will come in handy the next time you will plot the net torpedo solution :03:

You learn quickly. Your knowledge of the game is growing every day; if you don't give up, in no time you will know two times more than me. I say it with this music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30FTr6G53VU) in mind :haha:

Okay, so now that Maths is out of the way (pretty much aced that :know:) I can get back to sorting this out.
Once again I call upon those wiser and with more experience modding SH5 for assistance. On a positive note: The helpfulness of the SubSim community is inspirational:sunny: Prost to you all :Kaleun_Cheers:
I have downloaded all the mod updates that I needed as well as applied TDW's generic patcher v_1_0_149_0 using Sjizzle.gps snapshot as a base and then changed a few things (I do have a backup of vanilla 1.2 files).
But now the problem is that when I try to run SH5 I get this error (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/attachment.php?attachmentid=455&stc=1&d=1381612826) message :/\\!! I tried rolling back to vanilla 1.2 with mods and the game opens up and I am able to start new career and bunker loads up fine (water is looking amazing so I can see some of the Env mods are active at least):) but I spent the whole day reading the different threads and haven't gotten 'round to testing for CTD's in-game yet (at least without the patcher).
Updated Mod List:

DynEnv v2.9 - 3.a Enhanced Visibility (medium)

This is a nasty one that some people seem to be getting .. afaik, standard solutions to the issue wont work .. havent seen a solve, nor been able to reproduce it.
Last thing I read about it; the altered .exe is not signed, and this is causing the error. (probably)
You could check this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd723683%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
Disable it if it's enabled and check again if sh5 runs or not.

Do you mean that everything works fine until you try using TDW's patcher? :hmm2:
It's the known error after the .exe is no longer signed due to patching. Not everybody experiences this, havent been able to reproduce the issue either.
This cannot be game related, as the game hasnt started yet .. something is preventing these systems from running the patched .exe

What I am curious to know is: is the problem caused by the patcher pacthcing for some reason the wrong offsets, or by the OS being unable to run a regularly patched executable? :hmmm:

I guess it's due to the verification of digital signatures.. I always disable such services and all is well.. so far..

The later. It's pure OS related. I tested with someone by giving my patched .exe .. same error, runs fine here.
The error is also thrown by the OS, not by SH5.

I think so too .. that's why I posted that article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd723683%28v=ws.10%29.aspx) from technet a bit back.

Yes, all is good when I try to run the game without having used TDW's patcher.

Thanks for your input Volodya61 , the problem is I don't know how to disable those services. I read the article on Technet (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd723683%28v=ws.10%29.aspx) but I don't have the secpol.msc snap-in on my version of Win 7 (I'm running Home Premium not Enterprise or Pro). Any advice?

Thanks PLJ, the article made for some interesting reading and helped my understanding of the potential problem. I however don't have the secpol.msc snap-in when I search for it - I think it might be due to me running Win 7 Home Premium..? Is there maybe another solution?
PS: My Application Identity service is set as a manual startup item in Component Services (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools) and is not currently running. Is this the same as having AppLocker disabled?
I'm not completely sure. Can you start 'mmc' ? (start => run) From there you can press File => Add/Remove snap-in.
You could search for security policy snap in the list there. I'm not sure what they stripped from home-premium compared to ultimate (what I'm running)
Is this applicable ? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688326
Anybody else having this issue reading this topic ? What version of Windoze do you use ?

I'm sorry.. all the sources I can give you a link are in Russian.. try to google - 'how to disable applocker in win7'.. maybe it will help..

Yes, I have no trouble starting mmc but I don't really see anything that seems to relate to the security policy snap-in. Here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/attachment.php?attachmentid=464&stc=1&d=1381753119) is the screenshot of what my entire mmc snap-in list looks like.
I tried the Microsoft link and applied the fix - but afterwards I couldn't run ANY .exe file (including regedit.exe :dead: I managed to sort that out eventually, phew) - I still have the same initial error appearing.
I checked the difference between the patched and vanilla SH5.exe and the patched one has no digital signature whatsoever so you're definitely correct on that being the gremlin PLJ.
What would be interesting is if this issue is restricted to those NOT running win7 Ultimate or Enterprise (i.e. cannot run secpol.msc) ..? :hmmm:
it has nothing to do with that snap-in. that's just a tool to configure policies.
I wish I could reproduce the error :/

I might be misunderstanding you PLJ; the "link to web address" snap-in isn't highlighted for any particular reason. Is there anything in my list that might do the trick?
Is anyone reading this thread having the same issue running SH5 after using TDW's Patcher? What version of windows are you running?
Could someone having the 0xc0000005 error test with IE8 opened to whatever page ? I read a few comments on some topics dealing with this issue, that for older programs giving this error, opening IE8 and keeping it open and THEN running the .exe, solves is.
Afaik, this should not be the case, but it's worth testing I suppose...
