Hey my game is just closing after 20 minutes without an error message or somethink else. What can i do?

How much physical memory do you have, and how much of that is free ?

Other then that, more info is needed in order to give a meaningfull reply .. like what you are doing at the time of the crash.

Using this modlist and TC above ~ 512 could cause CTD's

I got 8 GB RAM and if i play sh i think about 5 are free.
It crashe randomly first a stayed behind my soundman than it just closed. At the other close i just watched through the periscope

You got more memory than you need for this game.

For a start, I would try playing with a clean installation of SH5 with no mods enabled. If ctd's will persist, either some game file is corrupt or, in the worst case, some driver on your PC conflicts with the game (this is unlikely to happen though).

If vanilla game doesn't ctd, rebuild your own list following my suggestions at the link I have posted before.

Sometimes is better rebuilding a broken mod list (almost) from scratch, than trying to fix it. Fortunately Sober and Fifi made our lives much easier. I strongly recommend you to use one of their lists as base for your custom list, so you won't have to start again from zero. :yep:

Yes, it can help. I am not fully capable to understand those logs, but hopefully someone with better experience than me will pop up.

P.S: something I forgot to ask: have you enabled any of the patches by TDW?

It was made or expanded by TDW:hmmm: to reocord what is happening during loading and game play.
If you study the reports you can see whole lot of information related to ships/mast-heights etc - this was when the stadi was being fixed
You will also see reports on mods installed.
Mouse clicking was a great interest to TDW showing clicks and map zooms (all to check UI functions)

And for me it records everything that happens or is about to happen with the automation engine - great for finding errors in tutorials or auto scripts

I'm sure it does a whole lot more too......I just won't tell you that you have a mod conflict and when mod a looks for info in file x mod b has already changed that = ctd:doh::D

DebugView is a tool, original in the sysinternals suite .. now freely distributed by MS.

That happens about 28 seconds before the crash, it can hardly be related I think. I cant see anything obvious in the log .. seems to be normal gameplay, untill the last message. There's an option in the patcher to disable the orbit listener .. you could test that I suppose.

Disable Orbit Listener option is an option for custom missions only.. because when this option is enabled you never see campaign progress.. a campaign progress is not savable in this case..

...well to a certain extend, CTD's are to be expected .. save often and at important moments, taking into account that ubisoft rushed this thing, and people are using their spare time to fix this game.

I get a CTD every hour or two of actualy playing .. time spend alt+tab-ed does not seem to matter. Using a lot of high TC seems to speed it up. Saving often seems to keep it at bay longer. I've not yet pinpointed the issue, but people using Magui seem not to have it as often if they use 'researched' modlists. Perhaps there is a memory leak or devide by 0 or other bug in the python code .. or an unintended effect that's difficult to replicate that throws an unhandled exception. There's a million options.

It also seems to be linked to ships getting into contact range or getting loaded onto the grid for lack of a better term .. detected by any of the sensors perhaps. But this is all based on a few isolated crashes not that well researched.

I tried to make an effort to pinpoint another CTD scenario .. and ended up with the bug mysteriously vanishing. sh5 is unpredictable .. feces happens untill it stops happening or someone get's lucky and has a Eureka moment :-?

It would help if you always post a modlist for reference, and try to reproduce the error first .. if we can not reproduce it, there is no way in silent hunt....ehr.. hell, that we will magically guess what's wrong unless your modlist or order is the issue.

I thinks that is not a good solution , to live with ctds. Or did yiu gett all ctds and just save often?

Can you please edit your mod list at post #1 marking sober's mods missing from your list, and mods not featured in sober's megamod which are in your list? Also annotate if by any chance you have changed position to some mods relative to their position in sober's list :03:

You CTD random, no difference in being in or outside port, no special thing you do or recieve at the moment of CTD.

You save at important events but not all that often.

You use a reasonable amount of TC.

That makes it 88% correct
you will need 100% correct to call it sobers mod list - otherwise it is your mod list and by the sounds of it - it does not work

The mod list doesn't work , simple as that .

As everyone keeps saying and nobody does
remove all mods
test sh5 unmodded
add mods one at a time, testing a new career with each mod added

thats what sober did to make sobers mod list

Try: save at least every 2 game hours .. dont use TC over 512, save immediately after useing a good amount of TC.

For me, this halves CTD's .. could you confirm this?

Have lots of mods installed like I do? I have more than 80 running at a time.
Start with a new campaign to isolate your corrupted mod problem.
How about trying 10 mods at a time? Then the next group of 10, etc until you can narrow it down within 10 mods of where the CTD is. Once you have a crash (CTD) with 10, then try the first 5, then the other remaining 5, etc.. It is called a 1/2 step method. Then take the first 3 of 5. No CTD yet. Then try last 2.

There could be another explanation for crashing. PC performance. When you crash: how do you crash? Is everthing else ok? I once had random CTD's with SH5 and it turned out that after cleaning the inside of the PC from dust (it is a sort of vacuum cleaner) I had no CTD's anymore. It showed that the temperature of the Graphic Card was exceeding a safety treshold and it automatically shut down.

I do not know if this will help you, but I was looking in the wrong direction. Random CTD's (after playing an hour or so) was caused by the PC, not by the game or mod list (Sobers list)).

Anyway, even if this is not the case for you. Cleaning the PC is not a bad idea (if you know how to do it) Good luck with solving your problem.

My recent problem was not being able to start the game at all. And it was solved on this forum: turned out to be Norton 360 issue. :subsim:

Yeah .. to a certain extend, it is to be expected untill the current WIP's combine to form a true megamod .. but that needs a bit of work :p

Did the tips I gave help to an extend ?

I already try to fix it like tervally said first try vinall than activate about 5 mods than another 5 mods.

shooting blind: checked that thingy? No idea what error it causes but doesn t take long to check. I never found it on my comp.
goto - Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features

look for - Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.4974

if you have it - delete it
