Hi,
Noticed lately more and more people lost in the huge mods world of SH5, and complaining about CTDs or other issues when activating this or that mod list...
So wanted to help with few mods list example, that i know are working for sure without any issue, and enhancing stock game way enough to make it interesting and fun (thanks again all modders involved!).

Those 3 examples are running without any CTD of any kind, IF activated in the above order, and IF playing no more than X512 TC.
(X256 for real nav!)
90% of those mods are from Sober Megamod (and the activating order too) and i thanks him for this compilation wich helped me greatly.
Volodya also helped kindly in my SH5 experience as well as Gap, Trevally and others :up:
But if you encounter unsolvable issue trying his Megamod, it might be worth a try giving a shot at the above :salute:

Why do so many people use No Snorkel Exhaust?
Yet they use the normal sub exhaust.
It runs fine on my machine.
I have never heard of any complaints.

Like all the Equipment_Upgrades, would be useful to have only 1 mod...

Forgot to mention if you are using Emtgufs Aspect ratio XX, instead of Manos Scope patch for your resolution, you have an option to activate via the TDW fileviewer (don't recall the tab name)

OHII must be placed after the EUF and NewUIs..
stoianm pitch&roll for SH5 V1 (normal) must be placed after the NewUIs.. etc..
I didn't checked other mods from this list now..

I just said that your mods order is wrong.. you had lost needed files with this mods order.. I don't want explain you what files exactly.. just look into the mods folders..

EDIT: just one remark.. haven't spotted at first look..
Nauticalwolf's_Damage_and_Torpedo_UI(b)_Mod_v1.1 should be placed before EUF and you need fix for these two mods.. because weapons.ini

in real life nope but in game yup u can use this mods for no sound contact at surface

Okay, if it was sonar then why have you mentioned hydrophone? only DDs equipped by sonars.. :hmmm:

Hydrophone GHG was able to hear contacts even on the surface in Real life..

...theorically, and with a drastic reduction of range and effectiveness. :03:
on surface, KDB sensors would have sticked out of the water, so no discussion on them.

I recently purchased SH5 and just planned to put it in storage while I focused on SH4 and SH3. But I must admit, your mod list makes it less confusing and tempting to give it a try now. I'm curious to see these great graphics everyone is talking about.

Yes, opus 5 is so different of what you've seen in SH4...
5 modded correctly is now very enjoyable as far as you have a good computer to make it run :D
I'll suggest you start with first list, and see how it goes on your PC.
Then you'll have time to add other mods :03:
Don't forget to start any career as recomanded with OHII:
- start career, type name ect, and once first animations of tutorial exit game.
- Go in your Documents/Data/Cfg/careerhistory, and set hascompletedtutorial = true.
- Restart career, type name etc, skip tutorial this time, and once in bunker exit to main screen.
- re-launch last bunker save, and go to the guy with brown shirt.
- choose your equipments and close
- hit echap, and in options choose your game difficulties and close
- go to the officer in uniform, and ask for mission and close
- re-ask same officer for starting patrol
- you should get a loading screen before accessing U Boot

I am using generic game patcher.
I'm going to do a fresh install and repeat the process, now i have a clearer understanding of the process.
If i fail at the same point i will disable all from the render section.

add the mods from the posted list first and see if you game works - if no issues go ahead and add the generic patcher.

Way too many issues by new users are with trying too big a mod list.
Throw in a generic patcher and who knows where things are going wrong.
Add mods a few at a time
As soon as you get an issue - run the jsgme validator to ensure correct install.
Then when everything is working well - add the patcher
After some time - add more mods
once you have been at it for some time and are happy this the procedure and playing the game - look to upgrade to sobers mod list. It should really be seen as the last goal in SH5

Thanks man.
Now i have a better understanding of the fragility and process i'll do exactly that.
(I curse the 'helpful' poster in the SH3 section who told me to get as many of the mods in sobers list straight off the bat as i could!)
In the week since i got SH5 i have installed maybe 5 times and had constant issues. It has helped me understand the issues better.. but not enjoy the game at all.
I did play briefly unmodded.. the game certainly needs the mods. I just, as you have said, need to get it working with a very few selected ones 1st.

Well with the basic mod list and NO generic patcher i managed to make it out of the bunker! YAY!
But i do have a few issues.
My crew have no voices. i.e they don't respond to any orders or when they spot traffic. They point and do as they are told but are all mute. Any idea what the cause might be?
Also when in the bunker and i asked the office for a mission i got the start of war briefing and after i asked for a patrol, I was warned 'do you want to start a patrol with no mission'.? I asked for a mission again but could not see how to or if i need to select one. So went out on patrol anyway. Is this an issue.

Well with the basic mod list and NO generic patcher i managed to make it out of the bunker! YAY!
But i do have a few issues.
My crew have no voices. i.e they don't respond to any orders or when they spot traffic. They point and do as they are told but are all mute. Any idea what the cause might be?
Also when in the bunker and i asked the office for a mission i got the start of war briefing and after i asked for a patrol, I was warned 'do you want to start a patrol with no mission'.? I asked for a mission again but could not see how to or if i need to select one. So went out on patrol anyway. Is this an issue.

No idea...could come from your sound card, or your sound file player.

Very unlikely to be hardware related. I have 2 sound cards, one pci & one on board, but they both work flawlessly and all other game sounds seem to work. I have voices in the bunker, general sounds effects while on the boat can all be heard, its just the crew responses that are silent. Its odd, i assumed it was a mod issue.. I've always used VLC as my media player. Sounds in the sounds/voices folder player fine.

EDIT: Well i reloaded the campaign for the bunker, correctly selected a mission and went on patrol, now voices are back and the game is running smoothly and as expected. Thanks all.
I'll slowly add mods and learn the basic mechanics. Like how to get the crew off the bridge to dive! :88)

It doesnt have torpedo failures or the prevent from dissapearing underwater ships/aircraft and also only does part of the drm blocking so I have missions increasing as I do them :arrgh!::yeah:
Make sure you use the latest generic patcher and always disable all patches before upgrading and checking patch dependencies

I have the latest generic patcher made into a mod. But i removed it as an error checking process. I'm gonna do the 1st mission and then return to the bunker and get the generic patcher on and few more mods.
I'm just doing the 1st mission as a sea trial, getting the hang of the basic commands via NewUI etc etc. :arrgh!:

I can not locate Real Battery Life TIme Fix in any of them. It was first created on May 27, 2013.
Is it included in a larger mod? Has anyone tried it with their lists to test for compatibility?
I am checking to see if i have enough of the mods dl'ed to start installing via JSGME. I have to make a donation to this forum asp ... so as not to delay starting learning this game:<)

i am still having problem with the size of the ruler and the protractor. I also am not able to set the degree of contact . I am using Newuis 7-4-2, 7-4-2 navigation, and mighty crew. ... in that order. Do I have the right order?
both tools are very small and almost not legible.
when u press left button the line disappears.
hit the right mouse but ... it erases the line. can not get it to stay:<)
I also am not getting the true recon position icon and the one to the right of that.... D and ...
I am using a turorial without TDC. to learn using the hydro for target solution. My sonar man will not give me an estimated range.
What am I doing wrong???

EDIT: Nevermind :) Just found an answer from Volodya on this very question :oops:
Yeah, AST is a kind of other sinking mechanism, this particular one edited by Volodya for compatibility with generic patcher "AI crew damage control" enabled.
What i can say is with AST edited, boats are a bit easier to sink.
Plenty boats needs only 1 torp. Even big ones...
So i currently deleted it from my list, to see difference.
I kind of prefer without...but still have to test against small cargos.
At first, i opted for AST because i didn't like the way boats were leaving place with 1 torp impact like if nothing happened...
But so far, without AST i don't see this happening again, so...maybe something has changed in AI crew damage control too, since...
What i would like now, is an other sinking mechanism wich could make some boats lie suddently (and randomized) on one side when sinking...but not always!
Could i tweak that in zone cfg too?

I can play 6 hours non stop without any CTD :yep:
My last CTD happened because i was "forcing" the game using time compression, and it doesn't like that.
Adjusted my final list for top immersion in first post, according to latest mods (and what i'm running currently) :up:

i get things like tourps going around and around manual and auto??? after completing first mission with deck gun only there NO more missions thats it, if i try the mega mod it just crashes after destroying the first 2 or at about 30K from harbor, :/\\!! the only way to play itis without every mod and fix just patched to 1.20 no darkwraith fix or generic patch ( no i dont have steam)
all i wanted to do was have the OH2.
i relay liked the mega mod but with out getting past the fist mission i give up i have tryed to follow every ones advice on setting up the mega mod but no matter how many times i reinstall the game from scratch its the same problems
as far as i can work out OH2 will not let me past the first mission,
and Equipment_Upgrades just sends my torps around and around.
i was hoping this game would be worth playing now guess not with out the mods that CTD

In regards to the list "final list for top immersion" , is there any way to stop the U.I. Elements (Depth Bar, Heading + Speed Bar, Time Acceleration Controls in the Top Right) from fading in and then out of view when not being used?
I'd rather just keep them visible 100% of the time.

with TDW's option file viewer u can setup to no hide when mouse out your UI elements ...
