Can this be heard by enemy ships?

Thanks.

No. It should be, but it's not in the game. They also can't hear the gramophone.

Good. I was afraid to ask for a depth under keel while having an enemy warship above me, thinking I'd be heard and located easier.

Thanks.

that would be a good mod, do you know if anyone has tried that? Perhaps the ashlot could be linked to an action that causes your sound profile to go up briefly. THe question would be are there things in the game that make you more noisy (prop rotation speed, maybe workers in the repar room, etc):salute:

I have always thought that's what 'silent running' was for. You run the engine as slow as possible, no reload, etc., so you wouldn't be heard. A mod like brett25 suggested would add another layer to the game.

I have linked crash dive, flank ahead, rudder hard right, depth under keel, and down periscopes by set keys.
Since the enemy knows where I am, it is immaterial that they could hear the ping.
I then don't use it again.
I never have the Gramophone on during an engagement anyway so that is a non issue.

Same here. For me it's the feel of reality rather than the actual reality. I tell myself they can hear it, and I don't use anything that makes noise when I'm on the attack.

Pretty much sums up what I believe :yep:
