Hello all I've been a long time away from the game and recently returned. Still LOVE IT!!

The GWX Team did such an outstanding job enhancing the original and I thank all involved for that. Sincere thanks guys. MANY other fantastic mods (too many to list!) really made this game a priceless, iconic and worthwhile game quite apart from the original release.

One thing that has always bothered me is the STOCK SHIII Merchants...they are mostly garbage, especially loathsome to me are the original 'Large Merchant' and 'Large Cargo' . A couple of the Tankers were decent but the rest were awful.

Has anyone ever thought of getting rid of all of the stock Merchants and replacing them with better ships like ANY of the awesome models in the MFM series??

I realize that the scripting for the campaign calls for all of the stock ships and would result in a CTD if they were called upon and not present....

I guess my question is....can the scripting be altered to exclude all of the original merchants and replace them with something else (MFM) or is it too deeply coded and dependent on the original merchant models?

No problem... without editing of models...
But what is it MFM? :D

I think he means the merchant fleet mod, Anvart. The one that ibecomelife made.

Thanks. I understood.
In this case, the editing of models is canceled... :D

Yes, it'd be a fair bit of work but it can be done. Another (less taxing) route would be to simply upgrade the offending textures with a better skin pack.

Here's one you can check out:

Yeah...just re-skinning is not enough.

The stock merchant models themselves are just terrible.

To be clear, I'm just talking the MERCHANTS...I've never been bothered by the stock warships....while not perfect by any measure, they are at least decent.

It just seems as the developers ran out of time and rushed the merchant models....which is ironic because *THESE ARE OUR PRIMARY TARGETS!!*

The models in Iambecomelife's Merchant Fleet Mod are magnificent. 1000x better than stock. I know there are many difficulties in getting his complete mod to work properly because of memory issues/limitations.

But surely if someone were to pick the appropriate ships from MFM to 'take the place' of the stock merchants the game would be improved tremendously!!!!

I have tried to do this myself but....alas it is not as easy as it seems because of the campaign scripting.

Is anyone willing to try & make this happen???

Hi mate,

The HAHD team is redoing all ship in the detail you can already see the detail in the Fletcher destroyer and some fishing boat and very soon i will post the new HAHD C2 cargo in the detail.

We are not only reskinning we redo the whole thing to match their real counterpart.:Kaleun_Salute:
