View Full Version : Very odd game behavior.

Hey there guys.
So I have this odd behavior from the game all of a sudden. My game is modded ofcourse. I modded the game after I finnished the tutorial, and the first mission (Brithis costal war) I finnished with no problem at all. So I`m happy thinking I finnaly have a list of mods that works well.
I return victorious to base for repairs and restock. I request my second mission (The one south west of british isle). I sail through the english canal, dodging all patrols.
Here I encounter the first oddness :hmmm: Suddenly there is a enemy ship, following my course, allways staying at the same range. If I cange bearing, so does he. He followed me all the way through the canal, and suddenly just as fast as he appears, he is gone. Whats up with that?
I go deep to do a sonar sweep, no contacts. I surface the boat, and notised that my crew and the watch officer dont go to theyr look out posts. My watch officer is still down in the boat chatting it up with my sonar guy. So I check his moral to see if he is fed up with me, the moral is at 98%. So he loves me.
I can go outside no problems. And I see the icon for surface to the right side, takes forever to get to 100% So I time compress for a while and the surface action symbol goes away, but my CO2 is rising, like I`m under the water. I drive at 7 knots with my diesel engins, so I am ontop of the water.
Do anyone know what up with the ghost ship following me, and this surface bug?

My mod list.

Thats my mod list in the install order. As you can see most of the mods are only eye candy mods.
Can someone please look through this list and see if the install order is ok and/or some of the mods dont go together at all.

Thanks allot :O:

On first look at your mod list, you should install these mods in the following order (though I don't think it's causing the problems you describe, the new order could prevent problems further down the line):

IRAI
FX Update
New UIs with TDC.

The warship (friendly or enemy) following you about is a stock bug I think, one we all get from time to time. The only thing you can do about it is wait until he gets bored and goes away, sometimes attacking another ship or similar actions reset the bugged AI.

The CO2 on surface/deck watch not in conning tower problem is another stock bug, but one with an easier fix. Just save/reload and your sub will act as surfaced again and vent all CO2 etc. Used to happen in SH4 occasionally as well.

Sweet. Thanks for the fast replay. Much appreciated :D
So, after the shadow improvement mod, I install those mods in youre recommended order, or can I just take out those (IRAI FX Update New UIs with TDC.) And put them at the end of my list?
Allso If I do this now, do I have to restart the mission from base (I allready have quite a few kills on this patrol) Or can I just reload the game in mission?

If it were me, I'd install MO, then IRAI, then FX, then New UIs - and then everything else (with the possible exception of Nvidia missing lights as I use ATI and don't know what it does lol). Shadow Improvement Mod is actually in MO already so you don't need a second instance - though you can add the 'LR' (light) or 'remove shadow improvement' versions (found in MO's 'mods' folder) after MO if you find your fps takes a hit.

Safest thing is always head back to port & save in the bunker when moving/adding/removing mods; though some can be enabled/disabled on patrol, the results are usually better by doing it in port. Shouldn't affect your tonnage score. :)

I'd highly recommend Trevally & Zedi's 'Open Horizons II (base + environment) campaign mods (install after New UIs) as the stock campaign is quite terrible in places, even with the reduced tonnage mod ;) This would require a campaign restart, but better to do it early than decide you want it halfway into your career :D

EDIT: also not sure if you need Air Torpedoes as well as IRAI, as I think IRAI has that function built in. Can't say for sure as I've never been attacked by an air-torpedo plane, only bombs so far - TDW would know for sure. :)

The Base Wave Mechanics mod is probably also overwriting the DE Realistic Waves as well, pick one or the other.
If using Shallow Waters, also use the patch (found in the DE thread & main DE modpack I think).
You don't need the Depth Keeping fix either as that's included in New UIs. :)

* remember - install order is important. Anything you install later that uses the same files as an earlier mod (your two wave mods, for example) will overwrite the older file, so you'll only see the results of the later mod.

Thanks again mate :D
Im actually downloading new horizons after taking a look at your mod list  I diddent know it worked with Maungus opus.
So I just use the "skip tutorial thingy" and I`m good to go? Or do I again have to uninstall all the mods, do the tutorial, install the mods again and then of to glory?

Yeah, if you've got the option to skip tutorial just do that; you only need to do the tutorial once. Type 'silentotto' on the campaign screen to unlock all the options. :)

Your new mod install order would be along the lines of:

MO
IRAI
FX Update
New UIs with TDC
OHII Base
OHII Environment
OHII Radio Messages
Dynamic Environment
etc.

Once you've reinstalled it all in the right order you're good to go.

OH! Almost forgot - for OHII, you also want OHII Radio Messages:

Don't forget to remove the 'reduced mission tonnage' before installing OHII. If you're unsure as to whether your install order is ok when it's all done, you can run this to make sure it's all compatible (you should have no trouble with that order, but just in case!)

Good hunting! :D

Since you're already suggesting mods, is there a mod that makes the marks you put on the map more visible? When I draw a line or make a mark on the map, it's in gray, which is hard to see on a dark blue background.

Btw, is it really necessary to put Dynamic Environment after OHII? Or can DE go before OHII?

You want TDW's .exe patcher to change the ruler colours etc:

Re Dynamic Environment - it's just how I do it and it doesn't cause me any problems, so I tend to recommend what I know. :) OHII doesn't affect waves etc so it should be ok to do it the other way round. :salute:

Thank you! Without people like you it would be near impossible to set up all these mods, the community truly saved this game
