Personally I would have gone for the TD regardless of time left and put complete faith in my defense that has been playing great through all quarters. As we can see, the Giants defense did not disappoint. Interesting end to a great game.

Again they needed to score a TD regardless if the Giant kicked a FG or scored a TD.
No, if N.Y kicks the FG, they would only be ahead by one point. N.E. would've only needed a FG to win then.

Correct. If they had kicked a FG however there would be little or no time left on the clock afterwards.

Ah well there is always next year! :salute:

Yes, sorry. The idea for the Giants was to run down the clock not score the TD. You could see this from the team's reaction after Bradshaw scored.

Yep and if we'd have had all our timeouts it might have been enough to win.

Blue Jays are my team, so lot's of :damn::damn:

I find no real joy in baseball. Part of the reason I like the NFL and the NHL for that matter is the parody. For the most part in baseball it is just the same old stuff each year.

I can say in the mid 90's Orioles baseball was exciting for me. Never missed a game. My wife and I would go to the stadium as often as possible. We were in contention these years. We had several big names. These days we are lucky if any sort of a team shows up to play at all. We hang our hat and run for the pennant on one star player. No threats at bat. Not like a Yankees team were all are a threat when batting. All are star performers. It is a crying shame really for what the Orioles club has become.

Baseball is a sport in desperate need of player salary caps. Right now the winner is always going to be the team with the deepest pockets.

"The best team money can buy" is killing the game (imo).

And it is the correct opinion. Money buys World Series. The Evil Empire aka Yankees is the proof.

There were boos at this year's Pro Bowl because of the lackluster play, which is not something you want at the festive, care-free celebration of the best your league has to offer.

It might not be a bad idea to mercy kill it.. Players should be named Pro Bowlers and get a stipend for that honor by the league but forget the game itself. Often the games are about as interesting as watching a scrimmage with the third stringers playing. I cannot blame the players. I wouldn't want to get hurt in a meaningless game and possible toss my career. Its happened a few times already and it's not worth it.

The NBA All-Star game is the same thing with millionaire players running up and down the court scoring and zero defense visible. It's just the NFL players finally figured that out.

There was a pro bowl? If they go by my interest, they could drop the game and I'd never notice.

Meaningless game with overpaid guys in Hawaii. I'm taking a wild guess the players don't care much.

So let them go golfing and enjoy their break.

Parity between teams is the key, not so much the skill level of the players. A High School softball game can be just as fun to watch as any major league contest, even more maybe, as long as both teams are evenly matched.

All year I watched a team who had no chance win, win alot, win ugly.
This team was charted to finish second to last in its division.

It won the second seed in the NFC. They also lost in overtime to the current Bowl champions. Not a bad resume.:woot:

Any team can win any game, on any Sunday. Just look at Buffalo earlier in the year, then look what happened to them.

More than any other sport NFL offers the fans parity.

All you heard week 11 was Pittsburg, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Green Bay, being shoe ins for the bowl.

Where are those teams? Knocked out by lesser teams, who displayed more heart, and more talent, on that particular Sunday.

With that, I look forward to next year.

I look forward to watching the Red and Gold crush your quarterbacks.

So how about them Niners next year

She has a right to her opinion and a right to express it and I think no less of her for it. Certainly what she said is tame compared to most of the monday morning quarterbacking going on.

Personally I blame the media the most for hovering around like vultures hoping to catch something on tape so they can stir up trouble.

Tell you what Patriots fans: This Giants fan will gladly trade you our under-performing team idiot, Brandon Jacobs, for your team's super model. I'll even throw in the jackass know-nothing heckler. I mean, seriously, you're five feet away from a gorgeous woman and all you can come up with is "Eli owns your husband?" What is this, your first football game? Eli and Tom aren't even ever on the field at the same time! What an embarrassment.

Anyway, I thought it was a great game. I'm glad my guys won, but if they didn't I would still think the same way.

soopaman2
02-09-12, 11:52 AM
Giselle reminds me of Anna Benson. Who was (surprise) a model as well, and had her husband (Kris Benson, who pitched for the Mets at the time) ran out of New York due to her constant need to get in front of a camera and discuss her husbands team-mates.

Just stand on the runway with a grim look on your face, stop giving people parenting advice, when a overpaid nanny does most of your work for your kids, and leave the football to "Tommy"

You don't see Brady telling Giselle how to starve herself, and walk on a stage wearing some elderly old gay guys dresses, so leave the football to the boys, and go back to the kitchen and make "Tommy" a sandwich.

Most hated woman in New England?

She's a joke in New York. Both the NY Post and the Daily News had front page covers mocking her.

Edit: Congrats flatsixes. Your guys broke our hearts in the NFC championship game. But it always feels somewhat better when the team who eliminated you wins it all.

I personally disliked how she indirectly took shots at Welker. Who is always a playmaker, and has won more games than he botched.
I saw the same thing with the Benson family on my crosstown rivals the Mets. The wife literally turned the Met fans against her husband, and he was great on the field. I would hate to see the same thing here. The power of fan hate is strong.

When in the public spotlight anything you say can and will be used against you. She is somewhat of a celebrity herself, she should know.

If she wanted to support her husband properly, instead of having a temper tantrum, she should have been an ambassador for her husband, and showed the same humility in defeat as Tom Brady showed.

Brady is classy, The Brazilian throat-cutter is trashy.

I am in the NY Giant circle of control, I am not that foreign. The locals see it as sour grapes and are enjoying it, you would too had Eli's wife had an outburst. I am only happy the team who beat my team won it all, it validates my loss.

Not so much keeping it alive, just acknowledging it happened, and perhaps it wasn't a good idea.

I am a Yankee fan, so all the bad seasons the niners gave me was overshadowed by the Yanks.

Now that the Niners are good again. Screw the Yanks. They can lose every game (except against that loudmouth Valntine in Boston) Yeah you will tire of him fast, he ran off to coach in Japan
after he ran the Mets into the ground. I digress.

I agree, 2 teams with more heart than big name, playmaker, celebrities.

According to this, you will play us in Candlestick next year, it is not the complete schedule, but it is the list of home and away games for next year, the fleshed out schedule comes in April.

Your ok:salute:, even for a Giants fan! I am still trying to forgive you for being a Sox fan. I can't pull the "closer to New York than Boston", otherwise I would have to explain how I like the 49ers on the east coast, when all my other sports teams I like are local (Devils, Knicks, Yankees)

I think I hated my uncles teams growing up, it felt so good to watch them lose, they used to get so upset. Maybe it is where my hatred (sports hatred, in a fun competitive sense) for the Jets and Giants come from.

Hey Giants. 5-0 (or is it 6-0, I think it is 6-0)in NFC champ games. 2 against my beloved 49ers. So no disrespect in my bashing.

All jokes aside I am still in full of respect for Brady and his soldiers.

My comments on Mrs. Brady was not mean spirited. I have more respect for brady than my own teams quarterback. Just models should model, and QBs should throw a ball.

I meant no malice towards NE, no bitterness here. My team was 6-10 last year, and yes, we do play New England Next year, as AFC east seems to be our division, I look forward to plastering the Jets and Miami too, so nothing personal.:D

What's with the Sir? I was just teasing you guy.

But seriously I agree with you about people sticking to their own business. I just wish the media would let them.

What she said was nothing compared to what every Patriots fan watching the game was saying about the same exact subject at the same exact time, so I find it difficult to fault her for it. If Welker was stung by what she said then what I was saying would have made him quit football and take up knitting. But it's not how I truly feel. In reality I hope that he comes back next year and keeps being the great asset to the team that he's always been.

Y'know I wonder how distant a relative has to be away from a celebrity before they are entitled to be a human being without the media trying to make a big deal about it? I mean obviously some think that a spouse is too close but how about a son, parent, nephew, cousin, Great Grand Aunt twice removed?

For me personally it was kinda like Mrs. Giselle was minimizing the hard work they done, like no one else did anything wrong. Tommy (as she called him) was perfect and it is everyone elses fault. (a few dropped passes is why you played the Giants and not the 49ers)
Dropped passes happen. And as I said Welker won more games than he lost.
Of course I know, NY fans are a-holes. (baseball, football, even hockey, let the Knicks get good, and you will see them start up too)

Boy do I know. You should see the crap I take for being a west coast football fan I just wish not to be mixed with them, my respect for the Pats is solid, at least until you play my Niners next year, then it will be war..:D

And the NY press jumped on it like a hooker with a "free ride" sign. Of course she spoke out of emotion, as any of us would do in the same situation.

She made her way to 2 front pages of (Rupert Murdoch) owned rags here in the NY area.

I understood her comments and might have said the same thing in her place, who would have thought these jerks would have found a reporter to "tell" on her.

My only regret over the whole thing is Tom is catching crap over this, and all he did was his absolute best.

That's why I didn't think too badly about her for saying it. Yes, she did trivialize the contributions of his fellow players but, as is the case for most celebrities, there was likely a small army of people behind cameras and audio recorders goading her into saying something stupid. They're very good at getting what they want and were smelling blood in the water after the loss.

Yeah but it made it to the Boston press too. Murdoch does own the Boston Globe but they certainly weren't the lone voice in the wilderness up here.

Now I don't think it's unreasonable that the NFL makes sure the players wives and families are not swamped with paparazzi before they even leave the stadium.
