I have lot of Ai ships lying around that I want to get out. I will release them in two, maybe three ship packs; one for battleship and battlecruisers. One for heavy and light cruisers and maybe one for destroyers and smaller vessels. I will also release the ships induvidually.
Some ships are familiar and some ain`t.
The ships will be listed after their respectable navies.

I have never really been a fan of the merchant raiders. Besides, there is a raider in game.

A nice addition to the British Mediterranean Campaign would be for instance the Bolzano heavy cruiser.
Or the Regolo-class mini-cruisers. I did an attempt myself a while ago, but was of very poor quality.

I might try the Capitani Romano class.
Anyway, this next one was on the to do list. It is/was the Admiral Hipper class DKM Leutzow that was sold to the Soviet Union in october 1940. She was never completely finished by the Germans or the Soviets. She spent most of her career as a barracks ship. She was finaly scrapped in
the 50`s.
Changes to the original Hipper design is the lack of a bridge/platform on the tower sticking up on the forward superstructure. Both the Leutzow and the last Hipper Seydlitz had this change. I decided to put an open bridge/platform on it because it looks better. This configuration was used by the Admiral Hipper class and Scharnhorst class in 1939-early 1940. I also added a Soviet plane on it.

Glad you like em`. I have always thought that the Pensacolas, Northamptons, Portlands and New Orleans class cruisers are one of the most beautiful warships ever made. I won`t include pennant numbers as it means I have to make seven individual ships. Subclasses are also missing. Some had minor differances in witch version of the turrets thay had and some small changes to the bridge.

It's pretty funny how the ships we like weren't necessarily very good military vessels. The Pensacolas, New Orleanses & the rest had a mediocre combat record, especially in the battles off Guadalcanal:
-The American 8" gun had a low rate of fire, and could not track small, fast targets like Japanese destroyers
-American cruisers usually had no torpedoes, unlike the Japanese CA's with lots of deadly "long lance" torps
-Armor was mostly poor, except with some of the later designs
-The AVGAS storage tanks in the hangars were a tremendous fire hazard, even though carrier aviation by the 1940's made seaplanes unnecessary.
-Until the Battle of Savo Island, cruisers were full of wooden furniture. Not what you want when Japanese shells start massive fires. :down:
Oh well, they were definitely pretty to look at, especially before their late war modifications around 1943! :)

Still, two of the New Orleans took some extreme damage without sinking, a testimony to their design.

- The main turrets are black which file do i need from om?
edit: installed OM and turrets remain black
- Can i change the flag at the back of the ship?

You need to take the crew files from American subs.

i hope the following information can help
when you open guns_H_44.dat and remove the option enable explicit texture you no longer get a black turret but a messed up texture that looks like one of the dds files in the library folder.

I believe that the messed up texture thingy is a result of the occlusion map. I have done changes to the turret and the occlusion map doesn`t fit anymore.

You are partially wrong. It`s an AU ship I made a year ago. With my stationary computer running I have access to some older and forgotten and/or abandoned ships. This is one of them. This is a what if of the Bismarck. What if she was captured by the British? What if they rebuilt her to British standards and put her in service? I tried to make her as British as possible while keeping as much German as possible. Since the superstructure was completely destroyed I put a KGV-ish superstructure on her. I am remaking it from SHV KGV and Bismarck.

Karle, I would assume that depending on the amount of 15" ammo the brits had (not a lot, and I don't think they would have the ability to start up another foundry to make ammunition, I think it would be safe to assume that they would have mounted british guns on her. But I don't know if they would go full-on and put BB cannon on her. I think after they reverse-engineered her they would just use her for target practice or something of the sort. but if they were to build a KGV superstructure then they would probably put KGV guns on her too.

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't the majority of British large capital ships use 15" ammunition? The KGVs and Nelson/Rodney were the only exceptions to that rule I think. I would think they would have had more 15" ammo then any other size.
This ship is an interesting concept, but even if a nation captured a ship this large, I don't think they would go to the trouble of reconstructing it. For example, the Allies came into the possession of Jean Bart, but made no attempt to rebuild or reconstruct the vessel for use.

The older Ships (Renown, Hood, Queen Elizabeth, Revenge) I believe used 15", Nelson used 16" and the KGV used 14"
I'm not too sure what ammo production would have been.

How about British 15" guns in KGV style turrets?
Rockwell you are correct, ìt`s the Tillman maximum battleship IV-2.
The battleship Richelieu was captured and put into service by the Allies. The same was to happen with the three Littorios after Italy`s surrender. Political obstacles prevented them from being used. The Jean Bart was incomplete and damaged. The US needed their yards for their own damaged ships and incomplete ships.

Just had a funny idea. What if Germany had won WWII, or the war dragged on to the 50`s? Based on that idea I have made a 1950`s refit of my new H-39. She`s built up from parts of the SHV Bismarck, my 1980`s Iowa and the Ticonderoga.
I removed the old Bismarck style bridge and replaced it with the more modern looking bridge from the Littorio. New masts from the Iowa and Ticonderoga. Removed the aft turrets and replaced them with two missile launchers for my fictional Bismarck anti-ship missile. Because of the removal of Ceasar and Dora I have replaced Anton and Bruno with triple 16 inch turrets.

I do believe this ships AA capability surpasses that of my Alaska, witch has over 80 induvidual AA guns.

Not really. I did a quick headcount on the number of AA guns the Lex extrordinar will have: At least 178 induvidual AA guns. I guess that would make her an overkill as a carrier escort. Still, you can never have too many AA guns, especially when the Kamikazes starts rainin`, eh?

Hey Karle I have news I found out how to make the refit tower ONLY to appear in 1942 refit here's what I found in the USS Colorado's files:

1. The secondary guns run out of ammo very fast one small convoy engagement then they are out of ammo.
2. When the ship is hit a couple times it hull changes colors to dark grey.
3. The main guns AI is stupid they will completely mess up like aiming the gun in the wrong direction then turning it back etc.

1. Open the gunsradars.sim and find the one for the 5in_Double_Base_US and change the ammo count to your liking.
2. Might be a bug with the damage model. Will have to look into that.
3. Have never heared anything alike, nor have I seen anything.
Is it the secondary guns, or the main guns? My idea is that you just sit back and watch, not control the guns yourself, as you can only use one barrel. The 40 mm Bofors is now the formidable AA gun it was, casue I took the ammo from the pom-pom. Now you actually get a flak effect with sound as well.
These are some beautiful mods and I'm and old destroyer command die hard, sh 3 warship mod had a fair pilot house and gave some scence of realism too those mods, I know it is a bit of work but it would give so much to the game.

Haven't you read my post about the Pre-war and late war versions because I've already done that with the guns in 1941 you will get the 4.7 inch single then in late 42' you'll get double 5 inch turrets.

According to official US Navy models and schematics the Monty had a smaller, North Carolina like fully enclosed bridge. Not the huge semi-open bridge like the one the Iowas had. The player can only fire one barrel cause every barrel has its own weapon controler, instead of one for all three. This is more realistic than the stock configuration since all the barrels were induvidually sleeved. Therefore they could elevate and fire independantly of each other, just as with the ships I have made.

I am currently updating the H-39. Basicly it`s a new mod built up from the basics of the old. I have made some changes to the 3D model previously shown. I have encountered a few problems; I have made some new radars, the FuMo 23 Seetakt, FuMo 27 Seetakt and FuMo 212 Wurzburg. All radars except the FuMo 27 show up in the upgrade screen under surface search and air search radars respecively (I took the radar configuration from Allied ships.) None of the radars appear in-game. Everything checks out in the files, but still no radar. This did work with my SG and CXAM radars for Allied BBs. I also tried to turn the directors into guns without a firing effect. But they won`t budge when I order my guns to fire. Any ideas?

The Alaska's a real Beauty and I really have a special place in my heart for them, as I had an uncle who served on the Guam in WWII. I changed the registry cfg to have all six units that were planned, and have the Hawaii out on patrol right now. I've managed to take out four large convoy's including escorts (about 8 ships apiece) and haven't even reached my patrol area yet! Once again thank you so much, and keep up your fine work.

If you have my old Montana mod you can find several different skins for that ship. Those should also work with the SoDak and Iowa. They are easy to apply to the other ships.
So... Continuing with the H-39. Radars are working, the directors... not so much. I removed the directors and then made new nodes for the radars, instead of having them inside the node to the directors. Only then did the radars work. Not that the radars are going to help that much. On a clear sunny day the visual will outrange the radars. Also there`s new 16 inch guns for the H-39.

Actually it doesn't hurt accuracy at all. Standard procedure was to fire a salvo of one barrel from each gun at the same time, left barrels first. Then a salvo from all three middle barrels, then from the right. The purpose was to prevent damage to your own ship. A fine example of this is the records of HMS Rodney in the Bismarck engagement. Rodney spent most of the battle firing salvos as described. When the range was down to about 4000 yards Rodney started firing full broadsides. As a result the ship sustained severe damage in several places that took weeks to repair.
On the other hand smaller ships tended to fire full broadsides, as it made fire control simpler. The firing ship needs to spot where the shots land and that is very difficult when they're flying about at random.
So the realistic way would be to have one gun from each turret fire simultaneously. All guns firing at once is less likely, but having them fire one at a time - bang! bang! bang! - is also quite unrealistic.

The guns on the Bismarck were induvidually sleeved but were mostly coupled together. The Germans usually fired semi-salvoes, forward guns first, then aft guns. About the blast damage, the reason for why the Prinz Eugen lead the Bismarck into battle during the battle of the Denmark Strait was because of the damage to Bismarcks radars when she fired at the British cruisers following her.

I have been working on the Sovetsky Soyuz. Remade the aft superstructure and the bridge area. At first I tohught that the weapons did´t work casue they simply could´t budge. When she was at point blank, she opened fire with everything she had. The bastard had the courtesy of firing at point-blank-range. She sank me. Again, she proved that the battle will be decided on whom gets the first shots, or shall I say, the first hits.

I have AI Pensacola, Portland and New Orleans. If they work properly, that´s a mystery. I have seen them docked in Pearl. Even sunk them a couple of times during live fire excercises. I will also make them playable. The Pensacola has been reworked due to new images. I noticed that the main deck was one deck too high. And that there is in facto no forecastle deck either. The New Orleans has been remade with a modified Brooklyn hull and superstructure. The Portland has a slightly modified aft superstructure. I could always make my Tone playable. Or give her over to Peabody if he`s interested. I see that the Kii has caught your eyes. She won´t be as good as my Allied battleships. When I released her she was already 1,5-2 years old. I updated the cfg files and the crew coefficiency.

I actually did the No.13 aswell. Kii Amagi. Both are pretty much the same. Same length, beam and arnament.

Assuming you mean Iowa, then yes. This is how the Iowa and New Jersey looked like when they were commisioned in 43. Missouri and Wisconsin had the fully enclosed bridge we are used to from the start. Iowa and New Jersey got them during refits in 45.

This is a new one; The Queen Victoria class from an AU website. It is basicly a 5 turreted version of the Queen Elizabeth class. The hull is based on the SHV Hood and the superstructure is made up from both the SHV Queen Elizabeth and KGV. I think these are quite the handsome lot:

I am still testing the ships and adjusting the number of AA guns. Iowa has 86, SoDak has 73, originally she was to have 90, but then I thought, how can the SoDak have more AA guns than the Iowa. So I removed some aft of the number three 16 inch turret. Oh, I have cracked the DP gun issue for playable ships. I have experimented with having half of the 5"/38 turrets be AA guns, the rest anti-ship guns. It works, but you loose some firepower in both air and surface attack. Just now, I had an epithany, why don`t I make one wpn_controller for the anti-ship, then have one for anti-air, but keep everything identical, except the type. At first I was excpecting the game to crash, or everything would blow up in my face. I fire at ships, the turrets turn and fire. Then I went to Japan, they sent a Betty after me, so I ordered my crew to fire at it. The moment of truth; the 5 inch turrets turn and shoot at the plane. I was so happy, now you can easily blow up any plane as they get close, even the H8K which usually takes a lot to bring down.

The 10,5 cm guns are Single purpose AA guns. The 6 inch guns are Single Purpose anti-ship guns.

that may be, but in my opinion all the ships need to be retextured, because the textures in use do mostly not fit the size of the modelled structure e.g. windows and bitmap details are stretched or too big/small etc, the hull isn`t smoothed correctly, not all sides are painted etc...

I am also contemplating making a new and bigger fire effect for six and eight inch guns, with the sound from Battlestations Pacific. The stock fire effect is the same as the 3,4,5,6 inch guns. I already have the sounds for five inch guns, light AA guns and battleship sized guns incorporated in the game.

Manually added. Although you might see some of them in port. I have seen the Tone class in Truk, the Pensacola, Portland and New Orleans in Pearl.
I have made a new fire affect for the more middle sized guns (6-8 inch) with the sound effect for 8 inch guns from Battlestations Pacific. I am having some problems making the fire effect narrower, if any one has any tip, then do share.

Hello everybody,
first I have to say thank you to Karle94 for making all these wonderful ships, but I have a problem with the H-39 v2.3 .
As Klaus reported, the secondary artillery don't work, not against airplanes and not against ships.
All aa guns work fine and main artillery does a good job, as well, but the smaller anti ship guns don't move or fire.
So this is a real problem when fight against warships.
Please, could anybody or maybe Karle94 fix this problem ?
Unfortuantaly, I'm no modder, so I need somebodies help.

PE4, as in Pacific Environmrnt 4 should have absolutely no effect on my ships.

That's what I figured... hmm... ah, I figured it out. I threw the folders into the mods folder and tried to install with the mod enabler, but didn't think to look into the folder and pull out the actual mod file itself and install that one. My mistake!

How come the secondary guns on the H39 don't fire? I was having a broadside with a Ise class, and then i discovered that the secondary turrets doesn't move or fire
For those of you having trouble with the H39's 15cm battery, download karle94's H39 v2.2 go to Data\Library\ShipParts inside v2.2 rename guns.dat, .sim, and .zon to gunsH39.dat, .sim and, zon respectively.
Then copy and, replace those files into the same directory inside v2.3 and that should get your guns firing

Karl - do you want to consider combining your work with the unfinished TSWSM ? I have the last / latest work TSWSM did (as far as I know) and we had much finished, but much to do. We lacked someone able to sort out textures, plus we had some very considerable gameplay challenges.
The last work I did was to make the mod compatible with Ops Monsoon - so that we didn't have to write a whole bunch of European theatre stuff that OM had already added.
If you are interested, let me know. I'll try and work out exactly where we got to in terms of development. If I remember correctly I was having issues with custom damage model and not being able to repair or more importantly pump out compartments after repair.
In terms of some comments you made higher up in your thread, I'd already taken care of bigger gun muzzle flashes / smoke and also much louder firing sounds. Also had very realistic radar ranges and had added realistic (working, not graphical) models of the major allied & German radars.

The ships have not yet been released. Yep, that`s where she`s from. I do believe she`s based on an original design of the Queen Elizabeth class with five turrets instead of four.

The Queen Victoria was a Projekt of world war 1. The British Admirality build the Queen Elisabeth Class. The Ships of this Class Based on HMS Iron Duke without the Turret in the mid of the Ship. The Following desing was a steched Queen Elisabeth with ten 38,1cm (15Inch) Guns with One Turret in the midship like Iron Duke. But Lord Fisher Canceld this ships and Order the Revenge Class with Oil Fired Engine, 8 38,1cm Guns etc. So the Queen Victoria never build ;).
The German Imperial Navy Plan a verry similar Ship with 2 Turrets at the bow and 3 turret at the sten, armed with 10 40,6cm Guns.

I am making a new class of British battleships that will be named after dukes. It will have 12x16 inch guns. Do you guys want a rounded KGV like stern, or a flat, transom like the Lion and Vanguard?

I read in the Book Battleships and Battlecuisers 1921 to 1997 that the Futur Battleship (FB44) based on HMS Lion, but bigger, Faster and with more Armor.
Dates:
Displacement:70.000tons
Length: 288 to 308 meters Long
Beam: 36meters
Speed: 30knots (25medium Speed with 6 month nonstop Action far away of Frently Bases without cover
Armament: 6 or 9 or more (possibly 12) 406mm Guns (1080 Shells) or a larger Caliber but than only 8-9 Guns

I Prefer the KGV plan (possibly changeable to 8 45,6cm Gun in dual Turrets) but with the Sten of the Lion and Vanguard.
Maybe you can produce a New AA Gun (automatic 13,3 or 11,4) like USS Worchesters 15cm full automatic guns.

I am thinking along the lines of triple 15 or 16 inch guns. Maybe both, the first as stock, the latter as an upgrade. The 5.25"/50 was an aweful weapon all around. Slow train and elevation rates, slow rof, and a light shell. The 5"/38 is so much better in every way. 6 inch guns, even the ones on the Worcester were still a tad too slow for a dp gun. The ones on the Worcester is by far the best ones. A WWII auto loader for a gun that caliber would be slow, very slow. Negating any other improvements it brings.

I still believe that I should go with the Vanguard like superstructure as the Vanguard originally started out as a Lion with 8 15 inch guns. The Lion class itself was changed several times during the war. If it had been built in 1944 it could have looked like the Vanguard with nine 16 inch guns.

Thats never happened when I download his mods, doubt it requires any others but i wouldn't know, I also use them with stock 1.5, and just in case! take off any other ships you have, having two ships active at the same time can cause problems.

Could really do with some assistance form someone who understand how to make ships playable .... I also know how to do this (I've comepleted around 40 for TSWSM) ... but I really need some more active modding talent to help out.
One thing I want to do is to use you improved graphics / model for ships like HMS Hood in the TSWSM ... the one we currently have was taken, IIRC, from SH3. This would mean taking your 3D model and aligning it with the .upc and .zon files we use for the current Hood ... I can do this but I need to direct my time to other parts of the mod I need to comlpete before beat release.
Also quick quesiton - do you ships have working external damage models i.e. do shell holes appear in the ship you are playing if hit ?
Please please please consider helping .... it would give the community a mod with a large variety of surface ships to campaign in, plus lot's of nice features not seen before.

I am infact a member of TSWSM and have been for quite some time. No one has told me to do anything for quite some time. I have done some small changes from time to time on the Hood. Some ships, but not all has a damage model. Some don`t cause none fits them. To make a damage model is quite difficult at best.

Oooh that is good news .... so maybe I can suggest a few things you can do to help get the beta out ?
First one would be to convert your hood 3d model to use the TSWSM damage model and other config files...
Next would be ..... how to import your muzzle flash for the big guns into the env.dat and particles.dat in the TSWSM .... the one in TSWSM is based on envirnment 4.0 (I think) and I don't want to replace it with your files for fear of breaking some other changes I made to it ... but I can't remember what they are :-(
I am currently trying to work out how to add new naval bases as career start points - so that I can load out Rosythe and Scappa flow with all the playable british ships as carer start points.

The only change in my muzzle flash mod is done in the materials.dat and particles.dat. The changes to the stock is only recoloring. Others, like for 6, 8 inch guns are new and won`t ruin other things. There`s also a new effect for weapons like the Bofors 40mm.

I decided to increase the number of AA guns from 39 to 59. Replaced some pom-poms with the Bofors and increased the sheer on the bow for a third time. Didn`t even notice, eh?

Are you doing anything with the anti ship missles, I got the tomahawk with the 688 but the range is short.. it falls short of 4000 yards have gotten hits at 3000 yards tried for 5000 and watched them fall into the sea..and are you going to get them to fire from modern ships. thank you.

Already done. 2500 km range I believe.
Sorry about being a pain,, and my wording I have a horrible scense of humor it is as bad as my spelling you can ask anybody,,, you do nice work, I have had asked about a pilot house on these mods before,, I came up with a idea that uses the control room veiw with the forward bulkhead removed and have a modified bulk head with port holes added with the dive plane station removed I think the s-boat control room would do nicely but this is way beyond my skills. Could you please direct me to where I could find the missle mods thank you..

Would a La Galissonniere class (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Galissonni%C3%A8re_class_cruiser) light cruiser be unreasonable? I don't care if it's pre-war or an American refit, but I would like it to keep the turret mounted catapult.

Yubba, i don't know, but if 1.4 don't have german subs and t4, t7 and t11 torps i don't think you have any chance to make rockets work, only if are based on mark 27
thanks klaus I got the tomahawk in 1.4 but its range is less than desired, same with speed it has plenty of wallop,,, if I could get it on the Arleigh Burke I'd be happy. I've yet to see what 1.5 is all about, I haven't seen it on any shelf.

Hi, Karl, just wanted to let you know I'm getting a CTD everytime I try to play your new Lion BB. Everything loads up ok through the setup of the crew and weapons, radars etc. get ready to start the campaign have the ship start outside peal at sea, it starts to load, gets about halfway through the loading screen and than CTDs. Can't figure out the problem, as all your other new BB's work fine. The only other mods active are your new Battleship mod and the Gunfire flashes mod. I tryed it without those mods and it still crashes. Anyway don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but any help would be appreciated. By the way all the other new BB's are great, once again fine job!

The littorio is quite... wrong in the AA turrets it was not US type twin gun turret but If I'am not wrong 6 single mount 90mm gun on each side. You may have been induced in error by The Richard Allison painting of a possible spanish version of the Littorio, which would have traded the totaly useless 90mm single mount for spanish dual 120mm gun (which looked close to the US 127mm caliber 38 twin mount.)

The H44 class was planned to be a 6 screws boat.

KArle did you get what you needed with the two files?
Playing the campaign with the P class cruiser. I have noticed that the second funnel trunk top is a bit misplaced and to the side of the funnel.
You should add some 20mm flakzwillig or flakvierlik to it too. Most german ship were planned with few of 20mm but with war they installed much more . By exemple quoting Glarkze and Dulin for the scharnhorst. "The number of 20mm guns progressively increased during the war Eighteen 20 mm were added in Brest The guns in double or quadruple mounts, they were installed where ever deck space permitted as well as on turret roof. The reconstructed gneisenau would have had 6 quadrule mounts and 8 double mounts..." Bismark class started with 20 20mm guns but Tirpitz ended with 72
For the P I think 4-6 quadruple and 6-8 double should be good there are many free space amid ship and on platforms
Any way a last question . Is it normal with the H39 that only main gun engage the enemy. 150mm and 105 batteries seems to stay silent even with enemies within 5000-10000m. As well as starting fire not being fought by the crew... I had one on the stern port 150mm turret and it burnt for days...

I am working on fixing the Lion. Don`t know what it is. To get the guns working on the H-39, just take the gunsH39 files from the older versions of the H-39 or O and P classes.

There's going to be a small red circle I think it is. Click it and it switches it to main engines. It's in the center of your screen on the bottom.

I have added a full compliment AA suit to it, that is from what I found sorta like Germany would have had on it had the ship been built. It is also almost invincible like the plans called for (if you dont like it edit the NBB_H-44_OM.sim file)
I also did some crew editing to attempt better accuracy at long ranges without the AI hitting you pin point from 48000 with a 4inch....
Yes this requires Operation Monsun to work unless you edit it.
Otherwise enjoy sailing in a what is the worlds biggest strongest battleship!
Oh the main turrets are black, not my area, they go boom and things sink :D
