HOWEVER, ANY PERSON OR...THING SEEN APPROACHING THE CASTLE WALLS WITHOUT DIRECT AUTHORISATION FROM MYSELF WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT. DANKE FOR YOUR ATTENTION.

Are they giving us free reign of the grounds? What's their game? I don't trust the Jerries one bit...
The Hauptmann considers his next choice of action. There was obviously a traitor acting on behalf of the British and the person he was most suspicious of was still August...even if it meant one less man to guard the perimeter.

Watches as the Captain prepares to bunk down for the night. There is still some time left before the darkness falls. Time is important at the moment, less we neglect the need to survive.
The pasture beyond the south wall leads to an obvious minefield, large warning signs written in German clearly expound the nature of proceeding further. The signs are lines up along like the rank and file parallel to the west wall. As the sun sets, the horizon is dotted.
"What the???:
To the west of the structure, some distance out, and across the minefield, the corrugations indicate that a structure of some sort exists, or rather, existed. It was was tall and has fallen into disrepair, but it lays across the minefield. To the north lays the South Turret, which would afford a better view.

After a day of strolling around the compound and listening to the frantic yelling from the castle combined with the oddly still nature of the compound, Takeda sat on his bunk to collect his thoughts.
"Damn if I know what is going on. All I know is that the Germans are dying. And when they do, who is next? Me? Probably. I don't know if I trust these Brits, especially that Lord Justice guy. Jimbuna weighs up his options and remembers the beast was exiting the castle after it had attacked which probably meant it was returning to the prisoners compound.
Either that or it was that SS guy heading back to wherever he had disappeared to.
He thought about the strange behaviour of one of the crew and that made his mind up for him.
I vote LJ for lynching.
August checks the action on the MG-42 and pets Oberons dog who lay prostrate, asleep and panting in front of the wood stove.

The harsh paint of the plank of wood leaves splinters as he grips tighter. The square weapon with four nails in the end is little more than a fashioned weapon against whatever, or whoever, is killing everyone. I'd been lucky, the fact I had spent most of the first few nights either out of the bunkhouse or in the compound means I may have missed being the next.
Or I am the culprit?
Fathers stories were always of a man who was part human and part animal. What if father was not telling a bedtime story but a genealogy. What if I had unbeknown savaged the others? Might then the plank be used to fend off my allies.
No, I had the opportunity on the boat while we were at sea. It had to be something associated with the island, the Germans. It was nothing that a good lynching wouldn't lend a hand to.
I had seen so few, but the SS man was still absent without cause. If anyone deserved to be lynched, it was he without an alibi.
Vote for lynching: SS Nigeis.
"Are there no guardians among us" he bellows from his bunk into the silence of the night.

"Ok, you! Enough of your scribbling away in that book. On your feet and come with us."
Petty Officer Lord Justice looked up to see Jimbuna, Tarrasque, and Mookie approaching with a length of rope. "What the blazes do you think you're doing?"
A fierce struggle ensued. LJ threw the men from him with a desperate strength they had not expected. The calamity roused the American from his cot. He staggered into the bunkhouse.
"Come on, mate, lend a hand, be a lad, there," huffed Jimbuna, his face red with effort as he struggled with the snarling LJ. Takeda joined the struggle, turning the tide.
Minutes later, Lord Justice found himself tied to the post that Vendor died on.
"Come on, boys, you can't be serious, we served together," pleaded LJ. "You're going to kill one of your own, in cold blood?"
The men stared back. "No," said Mookie. "We don't have that in us."
From the darkness stepped Schuetze The Enigma, bearing a bolt-action rifle.
"No," whispered LJ. "You're going to let that lousy German kill me? One of them?"
"There's no them and us, British and Jerries," replied Tarrasque. "It's us and the hairies, and they're winning. Here's where get some back." He nodded at Enigma, who spit out his cigarette, raised his rifle, and squeezed off a shot in one motion.
Lord Justice lurched back against the post, then slumped against he ropes.
Then he raised his head, his eyes glowering blood red, canine fangs protruding with a growl. One rope snapped! Then another.

Nisgeis
06-27-11, 11:49 PM
Nisgeis ran into camp breathlessly shouting “Hello?! Anyone?! Is it too late? I know what we must do now!!” Finding no one immediately around, he runs to the Oberst’s office and bursts in. “Oberst! Forgive me, but I…”. Nisgeis stopped dead as he saw the blood soaked remains on the bed. “NO! NO! NO! This cannot be! I am too late! Curse my stupidity… my arrogance! What a fool I was to think I could bottle the devil! May the good Lord forgive me.”
Nisgeis ran back into the courtyard and shouted out “Forces of evil I will destroy you with my faith! You cannot hide! You cannot run! God gives me the strength and I shall smite you all down!”
Nisgeis then ran through the castle searching for any survivors. The first person he found was Rear. He grabbed him by the lapels and shouted “It’s not too late! We can still do it!” his eyes wide with intensity “Who else? Who else was killed? Oh Lord, how long did it take for my eyes to open? Was it a day? Two? A Week? If it is a week, then… all is lost! Is it too late? No, stop!” He looked away at the ground and frowned. “Think man!” he said to himself, “Use your head. Think!”
Nisgeis rubbed one hand on his face, feeling his stubble. “Not much more than a day or two’s growth” he looked up and smiled brightly “We CAN do it!”. “WHO IS LEFT!? You MUST tell me!”
Nisgeis calmed after being told that there has been only one more death since his departure and that one of the beasts has been destroyed. “That is very bad, but also we have a great chance now. We must work together to destroy the evil that has befallen us.”
“Yes, we must organise and I must get cleaned up, I am in no fit state to talk to anyone.” Nisgeis seemed to come to his senses and for the first time he seemed to recognise Hauptmann Rear and looked at his hands. “I’m sorry” he said as he released Rear’s lapels. “I’m going to get myself cleaned up.” He turned and walked away wearily, with his head down.
Nisgeis
06-27-11, 11:51 PM
After cleaning up, Nisgeis asked for all the Germans, British and American to be assembled in the mess hall. Once assembled, he addressed them:
“A short while ago, I am unsure now of exactly how long it was, I left this castle to investigate the nunnery to the Northeast. “Something overwhelming happened to me up there. As soon as I stepped inside, I was deafened by a powerful voice. I was unable to think above the noise. I tried to resist against it, but the more I fought it the louder it became. I lay there for what seemed like an eternity, paralysed. Eventually my spirit to fight was broken. I let down my defences and the noise flooded over me… through me! It was painful, but oddly enlightening. I was forced to relive over and over my many personal atrocities that I am ashamed to say I once enjoyed inflicting. Once my own personal disgust at my actions had grown to a level I did not think I could bear, the noise became soothing and I must have passed out, for when I awoke I was at peace with myself.”
“I knew then what I must do.”
“A few days ago, I was so vain, so stupid… I actually thought I could capture a beast and experiment on it for the Reich. I was so short sighted, so weak! These creatures are pure evil. A tool of the devil. A thing so toxic, to touch it is to touch death itself.”
“We must work together. We are still enemies and we are still at war, the difference is that the sides and the rules have changed. There is no Geneva convention for us. The new enemy are the creatures and if only this new enemy would wear a uniform there could be no mistake, but that is not the case. They wear their fur on the inside. We must examine every story, every clue, every sentence uttered and cross examine each other without malice or fear of retribution. If we do not work together then we are all dead. Do you hear me? We will all die, if we try to save ourselves individually. We must save all of us, or none will survive.”
“We must not act as Axis versus Allies, but as humans against beasts. They are evil beasts that absolutely will not stop until we are dead.”
“I understand the natural reaction is to turn on anyone seen as an accuser, in case that person accuses you next, so it is a natural self preservation reaction, but we must not think that way as it is counterproductive. I fear that the current climate is inclined to vote for people who carefully consider and present evidence against others. If we carry on like that, we will destroy our best detectives and clues and then we are done for. We must be open with our discussion and not punish free thinking. Evidence presented must be debated and discussed, without the presenter being fearful of being lynched. The smallest detail could be crucial.”
“When voting it would also be helpful to state the reasons why you believe the person you are voting for is a foul creature.”
“By the way, does everyone think it wise to vote to lynch the person who has provided us with concrete evidence as to the numbers of the evil creatures and could continue to do so? “
“It is vital to know their numbers. I must examine the body of the Oberst. A job I shall no longer relish.” Nisgeis is quiet for a moment and then says, with a slight waver in his voice “I still have the notes to compare the wounds against. Hopefully this is not the work of a new beast.”

After finishing the examination, Nisgeis stands and says to himself "With each attack, these foul creatures betray themselves even more. Each corpse brings a new vital clue to the identity of the beasts."
"Calm yourself Nisgeis. Did you find anything at the Nunnery that you might be able to report officially? Also, since you are back, I grant command to you for the night."

His last thought on the matter was 'we are obviously up against more than one'.

This is madness. To make matters worse, our feared SS man returns like this is just another day at the park. I find this all very interesting. The spectacle of the lifeless Petty Officer as a limp hairy corpse was too much to bear. The Officer had served with dignity, only to be assassinated on a far away isle. Pioneer bent down and retrieved the papers and pencil that still lay in the officers jacket before standing up again.
He stepped back, saluted, and turned.

This deal with Nisgeis is all to cleverly played. He is up to something. Disappears for the night and returns a different man. Something smells rotten in Finland. I believe he is a great actor and has perfected his trade to help serve his role as a SS officer. Afterall, other than physcial harm to extract information what else is also employed to gain information? Deception! Nisgeis has been pulling the strings since the Brits arrived. Come daybreak and if I survive this night(I should..I have enough weapons to serve the Eastern Front) I will speak with Nisgeis. Think I will be asking more questions than he this time.

06-28-11, 09:08 AM
After Nisgeis' speech, Mookie slipped away from the group to do a bit of impromptu exploration. He made his way through the darkness and across the small stream on the western side of the prisoner barracks. A chill wind blew through his uniform and straight into his bones. He pulled his collar up to try and cut some of the iciness. Mookie was keenly aware of every sound around him, and a sense of uneasiness permeated his mind. As he trekked on through the darkness, the uneasiness turned to dread. The normal sounds of the night - breezes rustling leaves, the ocean waves lapping at the shore - turned into a cacophony of evil.
Mookie turned and ran back to the castle.
"Right then, much better light for this sort of thing during the day. Much better. Much bettermuchbettermuchbetter..."
He babbled his mantra all the way back to the rest of the group until he was back safely in the confines of the castle.
As the long night wore on August continued to reflect on the SS mans wild tale.
"The only people who have given me any reason to suspect them are the SS man and Hauptman Rear.
First, the SS Man. I suspect him because, well because he's an SS man and they are evil even in human form, but mostly because he told me personally that he was a werewolf in a PM he sent to me just before he disappeared. I don't buy this sudden religious epiphany one little bit. He still wears the Deaths Head on his black uniform.
Second, Hauptman Rear. He has deliberately isolated himself every night since this horror began, even after assuming command. Abandoning ones troops is totally counter to the actions of a competent officer and we only have his word that he locked himself away.
When Private Enigma attempted to communicate with him he was told to shove a message under the door even though it was delivered. Since Enigma was obviously a human there must have been some other reason why Rear didn't want Enigma to see him.
Coupled with his eagerness to defend Nisgeis and his quick accusation against me, I feel they must be werewolves. But which one is the more dangerous of the two? If Enigma and I survive the night I will recommend that we execute one of them and chain the other one up in the dungeon."

The Petty Officers journal did little to assist in tracking the werewolf's. If the Petty Officer was a werewolf, and the SS man is to be believed, there are still at least two others.
The sailor put the journal down.
On the night the SS man was gone, there was only one kill. On the night he was present, there were three killed inside the castle, of which one may have been done by the Petty Officer. On the first night, only a German was killed.
"The odds of a German being a werewolf are climbing," he thought.
Getting in and out of the castle with the place fortified would be difficult, but not so if you were already in the castle.

An uneasy truce settled between the two sides. No sooner than the shots faded and the schnapps run out, the men went their separate ways, having no discernible orders to the contrary. Jimbuna was alone in the Great Hall, muttering to himself, cleaning the table and picking up the empty glasses. "Just like me mates, they know how to knock a few back but they forget they're Royal Navy and leave a mess. Wish we still had the days of scrubbing the decks with sandstone, yeah."
A door slammed and he jumped. Realizing his situation, he threw down his cloth and pulled off his apron and fairly sprinted for the opposite exit.
"What's the matter, sailor? You seem a bit jumpy," SS Nisgeis laughed, entering into the light.
"Damn your eyes! I know you're the enemy, but what're ya t-trying to do? Kill me?"
Nisgeis smiled, lighting a cigarette. "I learned a great many things from my visit to the nunnery. This island of the damned is--" A tremendous rending of oak and mortar interrupted him--a great, fearsome beast smashed through the door like paper and ripped Nisgeis' head from his torso.
Jimbuna shrieked and fled through the back. Sprinting all out, he raced through the Inner Ward. As he rounded the kitchen heading for the North Turret he passed Task Force asleep in a ball by the foot of the stairs. "Wake up, mate! For crissakes, wake up!" Jimbuna leapt through the breach, twisting his ankle on the rubble. "Awww, no, no no," he groaned. Limping at a gallop, he headed for the POW camp. A glance over his shoulder and he saw an ominous shadow loping behind him.
The petty officer hitched it up another gear and sped through the now-open POW gates. He staggered out of breath and in considerable pain into the Bunkhouse A. "Captain!! I saw another one, get the men--oh-my-gawd..."
Jimbuna found he was alone in the room with a corpse. His commanding officer was dead, dismembered in a fashion he was becoming used to. "Oh the damned butchers," he said, tears welling up.
Then he knew he was not alone in the room. He was nearly overcome by a fetid smell, and he turned slowly. A werewolf, nearly eight feet tall, towered over him. Its inhuman eyes, its horrible grimace of slavering fangs were only an arm's length away.

With no escape, Jimbuna pulled the silver talisman dagger from his jacket. "Ok, ok, let's see about this then!" The beast flicked the dagger from his hand and it flew across the room. "Ah, I see," whispered the submariner. A guttural sound grew from the werewolf. It tensed to attack--then drew back. For a second, Jimbuna thought he could read confusion, fear in its eyes. "Yeah, yeah?" he shouted, advancing. "So whatre' ya gonna make of it, you blighter!" The creature stood its ground for a moment, then loped out the door and disappeared into the moonlight.
Jim collapsed on the nearest bunk. "Oh, the things I'll have to tell my grandkids when they ask what Pops did during the War."

Takeda stood by the bunkhouse door. There were more killings. Nisgeis, who had called for cooperation between the Germans and their captors was now dead, and what hunted them was most certainly not human. Mookie walked with a purpose and thought to himself, "Blighter's probably trying to get his next victims corralled in for easy prey. Well not me. Not tonight. Not here, not now." Mookie strode across the castle grounds, out the gate and to the north. He wanted to reach the lighthouse ruins to signal for help. Some passing vessel would be bound to see a morse code signal. As he walked, he saw signs printed in German on his left. The pictographs on the signs made their meaning clear: minefield. "Too risky. And I don't trust anyone to show me the way through. Not in this situation." Mookie's eyes settled on a barely visible path, just wide enough for a man, into the forest beyond the minefield. "Can't go through...just go around!"

After a short while Jimbuna managed to use mind over matter to control his racing heartbeat and hyper ventilation. He looked across the room at the silver talisman on the floor and thought to himself 'fat lot of use you were' but then thought 'perhaps I should have thrown it like a hunting knife'?
For some reason unbeknown to him he experienced a humorous thought and smiled as he thought 'well that creature was certainly a male of the species when you consider the appendage swinging from between its legs and looking at the size of it he certainly wasn't related to me'.
He got up from the bunk and walked over to the talisman, stooping to pick it up then back behind his tunic lapel.
The shock now almost totally subsided he was astonished at how easily the next decision came to him.
Now that the security arrangements had all but been dropped it was time to explore the remainder of the castle...'better to do something than nothing at all' he thought to himself.

Behind the pulpit on the brick wall hung a painting of the fallen madonna with the big boobies (Allo Allo, sorry couldn't resist).

It seems strange that Hauptmann Rear is now communicating via tannoy - perhaps he's changed into something.
Ducimus seems to be missing all the time - where?
August and Enigma seem constantly on edge - guilty conscience perhaps. AVGWarhawk seems to have gone mad - he's talking about weapons that don't even exist.
MookieMookie seems to have hid behind the captain's shadow - is that purely because he's a sub-lieutenant or something more sinister?
Jimbuna has scared these things off twice now - is that one beast recognising another?
Task Force and Pioneer are again being too quiet and as for Takeda, he was acting strange as soon as we got here.

The need to survive is over ridden by the need for knowledge. The animal, or is it animals, that are killing us must have some origin on the island. With the Petty Officer dead there must be something local that triggered this. The castle, has to be the key, there must be somethign in, or about the castle, which has brought on the onslaught. If it can be identified, maybe there is still time to stop the next event.

The hiding and using the address system. Not much in the way of leadership. Engima, you know, the schnapps lover....he is not to be trusted. Last I saw of him he was wandering off into the woods. As for your men, I have been watching. This Jimbuna fellow seems ok. He is a busy body today. I witnessed him entering the chapel as I was making my way here. He just plays to much the innocent. Got to watch those quiet ones. The American, I understand he has been unscathed and now in the dungeon. I would say by the killing witnessed, these beasts getting into the dungeon will be easy. All I know is I'm staying here and protecting myself. You seem like your head is on straight. You may join me if you wish. There is plenty of arms for the both of us to handle man or beast! Perhaps you and I can work together to root out these werewolves! Beside, currently my arse is puckered with this entire ordeal. "

"Officially yes. Unofficially he hasn't given me an order for a day or so. Discipline within our ranks, much as within yours now seems to be non-existent.
They're good men but this goes beyond their training and experience. They perhaps needed a strong leader to hold them together, but with the death of Raptor1 and mookiemookie's weakness that hope is gone.
And what of you germans? Are you sure that you've managed to purge the beast from within your ranks?"
Naw, i'm pretty sure that our surviving officer is one. Every move the guy has made so far seems like it was designed to keep us isolated and vulnerable.
I warned your two officers yesterday not to leave anyone alone but they ignored me.
I make the same suggestion to you now. Stay in groups. A werewolf can only attack one person at a time so stay in groups of at least four and will be at least one survivor in the morning who can identify who changed and who didn't.
I will be manning a tower tonight. All English or Germans aside from Rear who want to fort up with me may do so.

The room is dank, no one has obviously been in here for a while. The dust on the ground shows no evidence of footsteps, and rather than disturb it, he steps off to the sides and into the shadows.
The building is one big room, laid out like a church, row upon row of long wooden pews, but unlike a church, there are no Godly statues, there are no religious symbols. He works his way into the corner and looks over the room.
"It's an art gallery?" he questions himself.
The side walls are lined with portrait paintings, large artworks with gold scalloped edges. Each of the paintings is a man, is various posses. A hunter, a farmer, a military officer in a uniform not recognizable, even a fisherman. They are all in like possess, full length, standing upright, one leg raised and resting on something.
He walks down the side of the room and looks up at first painting as it towers over him. A small bronze plaque at the bottom appears to be inscribed. Pioneer raises his hand over the plague and wipes the dirt clean. The inscription is almost unreadable, but there is an unmistakeable number at the bottom.
A date.
His eyes raise and examines the painting again, the hunter. The deceased hunter. He steps back a little and is startled with the new view of the painting. His breathe shortens and his eyes widen as he takes in the scene. His head darts about at the other paintings as he quickly scans them all.
He is not sure, not yet, at what he has seen.

And in the background of every picture, Castle Collinswood.

(Since Jim is away from keyboard, I'll post his Official Discovery for him).
Jim found a quiet place in the East Turret to examine the journal he found in the chapel. Most of the pages were written in a language he did not recognize, but the last page had this:
... and now the Germans have come, like the Teutonic knights, and the Vikings before them. The island will work its dark magic on them, and there will be blood and death. I must retreat to the only sanctuary there is on this island and wait it out.

All the paintings had dates on them, a start and end date, almost like they were epitaphs. Graves. Memorials.
He walked around the room slowly, every painting had the hairy creature underfoot of all the men and every painting had the Castle in the background. At the far end of the hall an altar like table lay, without the usual ceremonial clothes and objects. A large altar, made of marble, smooth when you ran your hand over it, cold to touch. Pioneer looked back at the front door. All the pews were angled pointing towards the front in a V formation.
As if this was the place to gather and watch.
Pioneer turned and looked at the largest painting hung behind the table in a recessed nook of the far end of the Widow's Den. It was twice the size of the others, but had the same large hairy creature dead in the picture and the castle int he background. But this picture was slightly different to the others.
The man in the picture was a lighthouse keeper, and he had a rope around the creatures throat. There was no end date on the plaque at the bottom of his picture.
Vote to Lynch Rear.

Mookie trudged forward with heavy steps and tripped over an exposed root for what felt like the 100th time that day. The past 3 hours have been spent in an arboreal hell. The path he had started on quickly became lost in underbrush. He found the path again after a time, then lost it.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Mookie heard the pounding of ocean surf. He headed towards it and the forest gave way to a sandy beach. (Official Discovery) He looked back...he had cleared the minefield! Beyond it, the castle loomed in the distance.
"Damnable mission. Damnable Jerries. Damnable monsters. And the worst of all, that loudmouth Rear....coming on the tannoy and trying to corner us all together. I bet he's the one behind this. Someone should lynch that Hauptmann Rear"
Mookie walked across the sand towards a lighthouse that looked to have been abandoned for years. He needed to reach the top of it to set up some sort of signal fire, a flare, a light...something to attract the notice of a passing ship that could render aid and get him off the island. Mookie stepped inside the lighthouse. The smell of moss, mildew and neglect filled his nose.
"Let's see what secrets you hold, old chum." Mookie began to search the dilapidated rooms....

The survivors at the castle were tired, frightened and desperate. They knew there was little time left, and if they wanted to come out of this alive, they would need to kill another werewolf soon.
They broke into Rear's chambers, and marched him out to the execution post.

"Let's GO, officer cadet!" The instructor yelled impatiently as Mookie struggled up the rope. The shouts of his crewmates had a tone not of encouragement, but more of frustration. There would be much running in store for everyone if Mookie did not make it to the top of the rope. His breath came in grunts and gasps as he slowly put one hand over the other and....
...his hand hit flat rock. Mookie slowly lifted himself up onto the ledge and plopped himself down in the alcove to take a breather. The memory of that day climbing the rope at the Royal Naval College seemed to be a million miles and years away. His arms ached much the same way though, this evening in Finland. However this time, he had much better motivation than the threat of running a few laps. His very survival was at stake.
As he lifted his head up, he took survey of his surroundings. The rock walls were crumbled, but as Mookie ran his hand across them, he saw that there were intricate carvings in the rock. What the meaning of them was was beyond him. He was no archaeologist. Just a Royal Navy officer caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Some time later, Mookie finally had reached the top level of the lighthouse ruins. The view was incredible. He could see for miles in each direction. There was Castle Collinswood and the POW camp. He could make out tiny figures entrenched along the beach past the POW barracks. There was the nunnery that he had overheard others talking about in the camp.
The sun was setting across the sea to the west. Glitters danced across the waves. There were no ships in sight. Undiscouraged, Mookie began to search for something that would be of use to him...

Darkness had fallen but he had still not found the source of the wind. The painting was too heavy to lift, there were no hinges, the best he could do was lift one corner and feel his way around. It was not successful. In desperation, with the last of the daylight gone and the moonlight falling through the stained glass windows, he skull dragged a pew over and levered the painting up, bracing it off the wall to reveal the hole behind it. He felt around inside, it was too dark to see how deep it was.
He would need light if this was going to be of assistance.

"I wondered when one of you would find you're way up here."
*Startled, Mookie barely kept himself from stumbling backwards off the ledge. As he grabbed the sides of the little alcove for support he looked in shock at the figure who he could have sworn was not there a minute ago.

"How did I miss a man sitting in this small space" he thought, wondering whether he could leap to another of the little nooks before the old man could react.
"Oh, don't be startled", the old man said gently, "I won't harm you. In fact you're quite safe for the moment. No, nothing to fear from old Will Tiresias."
Mookie's nerves were just starting to settle when a piercing cry from the window behind the old man made him nearly jump out of his skin again. The old man stepped aside (as far as one could step aside in that tiny space) to reveal the source of the scream - a seagull had landed in the stone window.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a325/SailorSteve/Gull.jpg
"Oh!" Will Tiresias smiled again. "That's just Ernst. We keep each other company. He enjoys my conversation, which is good because he's the only company I've had in awhile. In return he shares the fish he catches with me. Aside from that I have a good supply of salt tack, and with all the rain and fog I never have to worry about water.
"But you didn't climb all the way up here to listen to an old man talk about his home life. Having a little trouble, are we? Things that go bump in the night? I was here when the Germans came, you know. Living in the castle, like my fa...oh, I'm sorry, I'm rambling again. I watched them move in, and watched that one fellow's experiments. Didn't do him much good, did they?
"He wasn't the cause of this, you know. Not directly, anyway. It's the Island itself. Something about the island that's not quite...right, if you know what I mean. Brings out the best in some men, and the worst in some. And, apparently, the beast in some as well. *chuckles quietly*
"You can fight this, you know. Ernst helped me hide some things, didn't you Ernst?" To Mookie's shock, and a little delight, the seagull cried out again as if in response to Tiresias' question. "Oh yes, we've been watching. I watched as the Germans made their little garden in the back yard. Put all their boom-toys in the ground. But we saw them, and we kept track. Even made a little map. Hid it somewhere around here, in the room across the way, I think. Or maybe it was under the lamp. No, in that next little nook of a room, under the stone chair. Has every single mine on it, it does. Has the paths where there aren't any, too.
"I also know about a little...something...that can keep the beasties away. Ernst showed it to me. Or was it that old Mother Superior who used to run the nunnery? Strange one, she was. Said she knew my family even before my grandfather...oh! Sorry, my mind was wandering again. Ernst helped me hide the thing. It's in the Widow's Den. Funny name, that. I've always wondered where it came from. My father wouldn't tell me, and my mother...well, that's a story for another day.
"What was I telling you again? Oh yes, the Talisman. Keeps the dark things at bay. Why haven't I gone back for it? Well, haven't needed it, have I? They can't climb up here you see. Of course there's no food up here except what little I have, so you could starve to death if you tried to stay here, all of you. You could try to take mine, but Ernst wouldn't like that, would you Ernst?" Ernst didn't say anything this time, but Will Tiresias' eyes seemed to glow a little at that moment.
"What? Did you say something? Oh, but you were going to. I can tell, you know. The Talisman, wasn't it? Got your curiosity going, didn't we? Alright, if my company bores you that much, I guess I can let you go. We don't mind, do we Ernst? But you'll have to go back to the castle, yes you will. Look under the thirteenth stone. Oh! That doesn't help much, does it. Count from the hollowed-out stone, the drinking scupper. You'll find it.
"Best of luck to you. Ernst likes you, you know."

He retracted out of the hole and began to search, looking for a candle or anything that might shed some light. Breaking the armrest of a pew, he wrapped his shirt around the end and eventually poured distilled spirits from an unlit red urn. The step out of the hole behind the painting felt even more woozy with wobbly legs. The attempt to stay awake had failed, and no sooner had heavy eyes overtaken him, then the blood curling howl started. He looked down at the remains.
"I would not have thought that the man I served alongside would attempt to take my life. This beast is not the man I served with, but some force that has taken control of him."
Pioneer pulled a drape down and threw it across the body. He looked at his own hands, they were white. He examined the backs and then patted himself down - no injuries, not a one. This was more disturbing than the corpse before him. he turned and looked at the painting of Tiresais.
"Thank you" he spoke to the painting while saluting. "Someone was looking over me last night."
The morning light began to shine, and in the ward, he could hear the others moving, before fear returned.
"With no witnesses, who's going to believe that I didn't kill him."

Takeda lept up with great agitation
"Calm? Calm?!?!?! I've been freaking out every night. Those damn Brits have been screaming at me the entire time to calm the hell down. And you say that I am all cool and collected. If you ask me, you're the one that seems all cool. Standing there with your gun while your friends are dying. Are they dying at your hands? Are you one of those things? What did you do to get such a curse? Sell your soul? Do you have children? Did you sell their little souls too? Or are we all just lunch for you, beast? Is that it? Is this a buffet?"
Takeda slunk to the floor, unwilling to continue his tirade.

You are at the business end of it. As far as my friends dying around me, it was and still is every man for themselves. Most hiding and other wondering off. I was put on the wall to guard. They wanted me on that wall. They needed me on that wall. They were running scared. From what I don't know. I was on the wall. Sell my soul? Do I have children? I'm as wet behind my ears as I am in my shorts with fear. I'm a kid in a mans army. The command knew that thus the gardening detail. Would a beast surround himself with the heaviest of weapons and dig in the beach head just to survive the night? That does not seem logical"
*steps back to think*
After your diatribe I'm inclinded to believe you are hiding something. Talk of me eating you and collapsing on the floor. Quite the showman sir. Eat you? Why not shoot you instead? Come come and get a hold of yourself.

Well if you would like to know, I have allied with Tarrasque. One of your men. Apparently he understands the situation and there is safety in numbers. The beast attacks the singletons. The other Germans did not think safety in numbers and look what has become of them. Entrails pulled they measured 14 feet I would imagine. I came to offer assistance and possibly becoming an ally with Tarrasgue and I.

Once again, I'm the lowly gardener. I know nothing but potatoes, carrots and peas. My other German 'commrades' knew something was diabolically wrong with this island hence the hiding and scattering. For me, I'm left to fester on the tower. I looked to have been sauce for the goose Mr Tak. Once the men abandoned all hope and scattered I took my own hide into my own hands. I armed myself. I looked for assistance because there is safety in numbers."

"My recollection is a little vague, it would seem that last night I knocked myself out, rather clumsy I might add. Good thing I wasn't eaten, like I might have the night before."
"I don't know what time it was, it was late, and I was behind a painting. I had found several painting all with the castle in the background and all with men of stature standing over a hairy beast, almost as though the painting was a victory sign. Each of the paintings had a brass plaque which looked like a headstone, complete with dates. All except one."
"That painting was of a lighthouse keeper and his painting was a little different, he had a noose around the creatures neck. I was looking closely when this beast, a large hairy dog - but it stood upright, arrived. it was snarling and frothing at the mouth as though it was overcome with some evil force. It slowly approached me, as I were behind the painting. There was no where for me to go, the hole did not lead anywhere, and the beast was between the door and I."
"I thought I was going to die, and closed my eyes in fear to pray as I lay to meet my maker."
"While closed I heard the snarling get closer, and then there was a commotion, like a fight was going on. The room got vividly bright, as if some divine force had suddenly illuminated to room. It was too bright to see clearly, I shielded my eyes, but saw two figures locked in combat in the room. The first was the beast, it was losing - the second, :::sigh::: my savior, I did not recognize. The fight was short lived, and the light was suddenly gone, as if my savior had been an Angel that had completed it's work of guarding me, and had returned from whence it came from."
"I ventured out and found the body of Sailor Taskforce where the beast had fallen. It was like the beast had died, and had taken his soul, and now that the beast was dead, the evil spirit slowly left, and all that remained was the mortal body. The beast had overtaken my friend, and in death, he had been saved by some unknown force. Just as the guardian had saved mortal I."

As far as I know (yet), there is no human who can fight a werewolf.
Humans, until now, can only kill a werewolf when its presenting it self as a human,
like we are doing when we Lynch someone.
I think that you being behind that painting at the moment of the attack, has something to do with it.
Could it be that the painting has somehow protected you or is my imagination playing games with me?

During the night, each of the survivors found opportunities to scout the castle, examine the grounds, raid the larder, and reflect on recent events. As the dawn broke, each man, whether German, British, or American was filled with a sense of new-found optimism. To breathe! To survive! To exist!
They all collected in the Great Hall. Jimbuna was gnawing on a potted meat sandwich with freshly bread baked by Takeda.
"Looking death in the face ain't so bad when there's fresh rye and beer to go with it," said Jim.
Mookie laughed. "To think, a week ago we were on approach and my biggest worry was the trim pump for the number 4 ballast tank."
AVG Warhawk entered, followed by Enigma and Tarrasque.
"Did we make it through the night without casualty?" asked Tarrasque. He counted off. "We seem to be two men short, one of ours and one of yours."
Jim paused mid-chew. They rose and went out the door... black vultures were already gathering, marking the scene of misfortune. The band rushed through the Inner Ward. At the entrance to the Widow's Den lay two corpses, Pioneer and August. In the German soldier's hand was a Luger, in the American's, a silver pocket watch.
Enigma bent over and checked the Luger. "Empty, all shots expended."
"Blimey," said Mookie, "I hoped we had shot the last of them last night when we pulled the plug on Ducimus."
"God love us, can't we be left in peace?" asked Takeda.
AVGWarhawk stared at the remains grimly. "God does not exist on this island. Only the devil."

If he was the beast, he'd have killed me whilst I slept in the trenches. He didn't. In fact, doesn't it seem at all suspicious that the one person that we know has to be a monster is suddenly being defended by Mookiemookie. Why? Unless he is one of 'them' himself!"

Jimbuna stepped forward and with a deft stroke of his hand knocked the rifle into the air forcing Tarrasque off balance.
"Enough of this ridicolous in-fighting...the lot of you".
"There will be a rckoning this evening, of that you can be certain".
He looked around and fixed his gaze on the short-legged German AVG Warhawk and smiled at him in a sneering fashion...he could see the effect this was having on Warhawk as he looked increasingly ill at ease 'or is he simply about to pass wind'?
EDIT: Damn...must learn to type faster!!

Quite odd that you've thrown your lot in with a German private, chief. Damned odd indeed. Some may say treasonous. Or maybe it's the case that these beasts hunt in packs.... *Mookie shot an accusatory glance towards AVG and Tarrasque*

"So, Mr. Buna gets a backbone does he? Mr. Buna has spent the better part of his stay knocked out, strapped down or investgating buildings. The theatrics are not necessary Mr. Buna. We are well aware that your history since your arrival would preclude you as a werewolf. That raises another question, why do you live such a charmed life on this island?"

"You don't like things that are charmed, do you? No, you fear them....."

"Treasonous? Show me where it states in the queen regulations that it's treasonous to survive? Show me where it states that you have to be torn to shreads just to 'obey orders'?
"We could have survived this if you officers had shown an ounce of leadership. If you had actually paid attention to events. But no! You chose to focus on the war out there. Who cares about the Hood, or the Oak? What matters is we were being slaughtered like animals. And all the time your sole goal, your sole focus was 'We must oppose the Germans'

"Three beasts carrying out two murders? Your math seems off? Did you loose your sense of logic when you sold your soul? No, it seems that you are trying desperately to deflect the truth of the matter. And why are you" he looked at Tarrasque "so militant in the defense of this abomination? "Well we can see this is getting us nowhere. It would seem that Engima has worked a plan to incriminate everyone but himself. He gathers everyone and allows the accusation begin. I would venture to guess he sits idly by laughing. I told you to talk with him. The man is not what he seems. Think about it...reason it out! Why would a meeting be called and the person requesting the meeting not show? You all must reason it out? You need to question Enigma."
