anyone what to help with some british voices overs for WDAD please enlist. Iv'e done quite a bit now, but need other voices to complete the project.

I'd love to but all I could possibly offer is a poorly executed faux accent with my Texan twang barely muted. Is it possible that some British submarines took Yank volunteers?

This has to be one of the most stable and complete mods outthere for SHIV, awesome work :up:

A minor issue: Some merchants seem to have no sound associated. That or my sonarman is completely deaf...

Apart form that: Mucho bellisima!

Lurkers WDAD needs to be installed on a clean installation of SH4 for best results.

Here you will find WDAD http://www.gamefront.com/files/users/dashboard

You unzip WDAD v.100 into jsgme, then unzip the patch V1.7 into jsme and install.

Japlance's Med campaign can then be installed over WDAD.

there are help files in both MODS

Hi,

I've got the mod installed in the whole "make new copy of vanilla, copy files over"

And I've applied the Med Campaign to a copy of my updated version of WDAD, but to no avail... It seems to stall at the last segment of loading at the start of the game, (probably the last 1/6th of the loading) and then it makes a CTD...

my version of WDAD works perfectly, and I've tried to re-download the Med Campaign and install it, but again no success...

I'd rather not use JSGME as I've found it a bit annoying at times, and isn't the ol' "copy of vanilla, merge mod data over it" just as good??

JSGME works fine and every time, check your installation. Start jsgme then goto tasks and generate a snapshot, this creates a MOD folder. All mods unpacked into the jsgme MOD folder.

Lurkers WDAD really should installed over a clean installation of SH4, click yes when asked to overwrite. Then do the same with WDAD patch.

JapLances Med Campaign should be installed over WDAD, click yes when asked to overwrite.

that's it.

Brilliant job on this Japlance, I was sorry to see Lurker has moved on, so this is a wonderful addition to the We Dive At Dawn possibilities. The British RN submarine drivers did a remarkable job in the Med, with shallow water, shifting currents, all of the Italian Fleet and problems of supply ( to Malta) and all the other dangers .....I very much look forward to seeing this in action, as family members of mine were active in command of U Boats on the Med and had a healthy respect for their counterparts in the RN, i am very glad to see you succeeded in your project and that there may be more boats added, Keltos is the master of new boat construction so that is great to see him here too. And the British voice mod sounds excellent too, hope that works out as well. Is there a buzzer mod for the dive alarm yet?

I've got it working now, and I very much like what I see, however since I've been playing TMO a lot lately... the Med Campaign just seems.. a bit.. "empty"

But I know that's because this is in early stages of course... But once this mod is fitted out fully and given tonnes of flavour, and british voices are incorporated, it will be beautiful.

I'd also love to see an Italian campaign too, which there was an attempt at creating but unfortunately the files for it were lost...

I installed this mod 2 days ago and spent a very enjoyable night playing my first patrol in HMS Triumph sailing from the Rock.

It's great to play a British campaign especially in the Med. I'm looking forward to recording voices for the British subs when i get back to uni after Christmas :)

I've got a few questions too!

1. I was sent to patrol of the cost of Corsica in 1940. I sailed there, spent five days patrolling and saw two Planes that did not see me. Completed my Mission, asked for new orders and patrolled the waters NW of Corsica. Spent 5 days there and again only saw two planes.
Is the shipping meant to be that empty? or is it because i dont have RADAR that i simply didn't spot anything at all?

2. Did you alter the mechanics for firing torps? It might be because my crew is very green compared to the crew i had in Keltos' T class mod (the one that puts a T Class in the Pacific) but i couldn't hit a stationary merchant man with any fish when he was at port, and i was less than 1400 yards.

I really love the mod. It's so nice to patrol the Med' waters, it feels so different to the pacific. I also encountered an under water sea wall around a harbour for the first time and sea mines, which scared the hell out of me. I don't think i appreciated them at the time but they are excellent features for ports :)

Also, does anyone know any good hunting grounds early in the war for me to sink some ships?

The aircraft detection systems are the same as in Lurkers other mods and there pretty hot.

Torpedoes only work on a narrow angle, 10% or so, you have to take more care when shooting

My favourite area is to the west of Pantelleria, it gets narrow between Tunisia and Sicily, or even the Taranto bay area

Quick question though, what did you mean by the 10 degree angle?
I had no problems with the torps going off, (as the bloke who has to fix the docks will testify :) ) but i just couldn't get any of them to go where i was aiming at. Im thinking maybe the spread angle could have been playing up and i will check it, but otherwise im stumped.

The British Torpedoes had a narrow gyro angle, 10% either side of the boats heading, I believe, my quote may not be exact but it was narrow compared with it's German counterparts.

You really need to be in a good shooting position first, a good position is at 90% of the bow. When in a T Class if shooting destroyers I fire 6 torps and increment them by a step of say 2, 3, 5 and 6 degrees ahead of the destroyer, the last torpedoe is fired at about 3% ahead to catch the ship as it turns away, works quite well. Other than that attack destroyers only at night, one or two torpedoes are enough. This does not apply the merchants of coase.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic Mod and I've enjoyed every minute playing it.
I do find the visual range of the U class a challenge when running on the surface, compared to that of the T Class. Guess i'll have to follow proper RN Docterine when using the U.:D

Hi SH4ers,

A few weeks ago I contacted sidslotm about our interest for the British campaign that lurker created with WDAD.

Unfortunately, seems like lurker has given up SH4 modding, and the WDAD project was left unfinished, so after sidslotm created a couple of Singleplayer missions set in the Med, I had the idea of somehow build campaign layers to play a sub out of Malta. A lot of work was already there thanks to what lurker did in the first part of WDAD, but also a lot had to be added. I've sent a PM to lurker to get permission to use his layers, but I'm afraid there's no answer by now. In case he doesn't say a word, I'll have to make from scratch some of them myself (with a loss in quality I'm afraid, but there's no other option). The mod will run in SH4 1.5, on top of the original WDAD mod.

Little by little, reading a lot around the forums here, learning my way in the files of SH4, the Campaign is shaping up. At the start it was a 1941 campaign for a U-class sub out of Malta. By now it lets you use a U or a T-Class starting in Malta, Gibraltar or Alexandria from 1940 to 1943, with patrol zones all around the Mediterranean (from Sardinia up to Syria), and also Flying Carpet missions to bring supplies to Malta or landing Commandos in different spots of the enemy coast. You could even be ordered to transport Chariots to the surroundings of an Italian base.

I got permission from a few SH3 modders to build up the Italian Fleet, which until now had only in WDAD the Soldati Class Destroyers.

VonDos gave me permission to use his ships, which include the Duilio Battleship, and the Trento, Montecuccoli and Barbiano cruisers, as well as the San Giorgio Armoured cruiser and the Gradisca Hospital Ship.

While not 100% secure, because he has dissapeared from SH modding scene, Gerome_73 lends his Littorio-class Battleship Roma. I contacted the person who uploaded that ship to SubSim, and also someone who had recently asked him for a similar thing for one of his works. I'm confident that, as long as proper credit is given, there would be no problem in using it.

Then I've used a couple of ships already in WDAD to act as Italians. That includes a German TB to act as the Italian Torpedinieri, which are roughly similar to an allied DE, and also a Japanese Subchaser, for the Gabbiano class of corvettes. Also added to the Italian roster a few different merchant ships, to have variety.

Right now I'm also trying to contact the creators of the Baltic Mod to get permission to use the nice Zara class cruiser they did. In case that is not possible, the German Hipper is in WDAD and can be quite convincing as a Zara.

Of the main ships, the only class really lacking is proper fleet destroyers, which by now are only represented by the Soldati. If anyone is interested in doing extra DD classes, that would be very welcome.

I'd like to hear your opinions, comments and ideas, and when I have a Beta version, a few volunteers to test would be great. I will also probably ask you for help when I meet unknown stuff.

My intentions with this mod were sparking interest in the British subs and draw some more people to complete WDAD, which was left incomplete by his creator. But obviously in Subsim this interest is almost non-existant (hardly any feedback from players and/or extra modders), so I stopped working on it.

Also, there is a completed L-Class sub in the Baltic mod. Don't know if these were used in the med though.

EDIT: Found the patch. Also, the L class would make a cool training sub.

No, unfortunately it is not. There was never much demand for it, so I stopped working on it.

The fact that WDAD (which was essential for the Mediterranean Campaign to work) was converted into a donationware mod didn't help either.

If you still want to get your hands on it, I think I could still upload the last released version to MEGA.

Actually pretty much every Mega-Mod for SH4 was completed. Trigger Maru, Real Fleet Boat, Run Silent Run Deep the Campaign and Operation Monsun were all basically finished.

As a newbie here, I'm slightly disappointed with the overhaul mods for Silent Hunter 4 not ever being completed, but maybe everyone's moved over to Silent Hunter 5.

As Adm. H said, most were completed. Not every bug in the game is fixable, though.

It doesn't help, that some were lured away by the novelty of SH5, or others don't like the US campaign, and went back to SH3.

I've got to admit that after seeing what TheDarkWraith has done for SH5 i've always wondered what he could've done with SH4.

My Game crashes in loading screen when this Mod is active, why?

There could be a myriad of reasons why. First of all, can you start JSGME and click on "Tasks...", then "Export activated mods list to -->" and choose "Clipboard", which will put the list into your computer's RAM. Reply to the post here, and Paste (<Ctrl><V>) the clipboard in the Reply to Thread text box.

Refer to the bottom of Post 1 of this thread (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1627856#post1627856), and make certain you have the latest of the Med Campaign, and that you have WDAD (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1411942#post1411942) and the Patch, and that you have them activated in JSGME in the correct order. "We Dive At Dawn" is a bonus mod, only available to paid members, so you would have to sign-up with Onkel Neal to gain access to it. The Bonus Mods are well worth the cost of membership. Once you have them activated, you should either clear the Save folder, or use MultiSH4 1.5 (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1110) and make yourself a new save folder, such as "BMS" (Battle Med Sea) or some-such that you'll remember. You need a "clean" Save folder for the mods to copy files over correctly. You also cannot have the game installed in a Windows "Program Files" folder. If you do, Windows will partially rollback all of your mod activations of anything that Windows suspects might be a system file, such as cfg files. You can copy the whole installation folder and paste it into another folder of your own making, or you can re-install the game.

For what it's worth, the Med campaign seems to be working just fine for me. Not too much in the way of mod-soup so perhaps that might be an issue.
